neo geo roms

hmmm...

dunno, sorry!

I used to get them from "8 Bits of Wonder" but that has now sadly gone....

You could always try Direct Connect or something... maybe there's a newsgroup but I've never checked... personally speaking there are only 3-4 great games available for the neo geo (metal slug for definite) and the rest are good but not great. I think that's why it's so hard to get them (as with Wonderswan :-( )

I'd say there's quite a bit more. Granted, the Metal Slug series is top-notch, but if you enjoy 2D fighters than the Neo Geo has a fantastic selection, from the King of Fighters series to Samari Shodown/Spirits.

In any case, the newsgroups are good for ROMs of all types, but chances are you'll need to pay for an account on something like usenetserver.com or similar to get decent access... I'm sure your ISP won't be carrying all the binary newsgroups. Also, you may wish to check out the eDonkey network via

** MODERATED - no discussion of where to get ROMS - ESPECIALLY direct links..... **

I find it very hard going from the DC versions to the NGP versions... ;) Maybe its the two button thing!!

Tut, you're not meant to discuss roms...

Can I just point out that if you want to use them in the new emulator, you'll want Neo Geo Pocket/Pocket Colour roms and not Neo Geo roms. Also, use google instead of asking here, they're not hard to find and a lot of people don't like discussing them as they encourage piracy etc...

a quote from Rico(on another similarly themed topic on general news-)

I will say for the record that I regard to the NGPC as a failed console that screwed over a -lot- of people who bought it (including some friends of fine). I couldn't care less if ROMs were traded for it, as the same thing happens for NES, Spectrum, and so on.

However: GP32X does not allow direct links to roms or rom sites, as this could get us into trouble. But I won't object if such stuff is discussed.

So Roms can be discussed ;) , but we can't put up direct links (which is what I agree with)...

A-whoops, I thought we were talking about Neo Geo stuff, not NGP©. Yeah, the NGP wasn't exactly the best system ever, and there weren't that many games for it either... you'd probably be right in saying that Metal Slug is the best game for it. :)

Hrm.. I keep hearing that there's no straight NeoGeo emulator because the GP32 doesn't have enough RAM.. but how much RAM did the NeoGeo have? I know the carts were big, but it was an old console, I can't see that it had more than 8MB of RAM.

it's similar to NeoGeo MVS emulation on the DC, memory is the same problem...

However, it maybe would be possible to emulate the NeoGeo CD system as it's not restricted by cart sizes and you could rip out the music.

Another possibility discussed on the DC scene was to rip the gfx from the NeoGeo MVS roms and compress them, and remove some additional gfx to get the rom sizes to below 8MB.... but most of the great games are well over that limit :(

no direct links? are we allowed to link to a page that links to a romsite (or just show the romsite like this: w*w*w*.*r*o*m*s*i*t*e*.*c*o*m) because isn't the reason of not being able to put romsites on just that web crawlers would relate GP32x to roms, then close it down?

I'll clarify my point. I'm all for -discussion- of ROMs as I know we all have them. I do not want links to roms, descriptions of how to get them, etc. outside of PM. This lamer is posting on the board asking for roms. Neither the mod team, hando or most of the board's users want this board to become a rom-trading spam-fest full of requests. That's the dystopian view, obviously, but we must have a strict policy.

Find somewhere else to ask for roms, such places -do- exist... but no links, no obscuficated links. Such stuff will get gp32x into trouble pretty easily even if it's not possible to buy the damn things anymore :)

EDIT2: Wrong forum, "News zone" is especially not for roms. Learn to read.

Sorry - we cant risk beiong shut down becasue of a few rom links.... if you want to find them, do it in your own way, as it's up to you whether you do so, but dont post it here....
