There is a version of Microsoft Visual Studio C++ 2005 express that you can get free for a year.. Since you can set a makefile project, it shouldn't be hard to set up...

bit like this really

http://www.devkitpro.org/visual-c++-express.shtml

CodeBlocks doesn't work last I checked (the makefile project stuff wasn't working) and dev C++ isn't great.

Personally I prefer IDEs that don't attempt to do everything for you, it's much easier to use them with new toolchains. My personal preference is UltraEdit but Programmer's NotePad 2 comes fairly close.

Well, I'm taking a look at Programmers Notepad 2, and trying to set the compiler and linker etc up (as tools)... problem is, I don't know which programs to call and in what order...

Which is the compiler? And does it then go on to call the linker etc. by itself? If not, what is the linker called? I've only ever used GCC tools under a frontend that had it all set up already (DevCpp, codeblocks etc...) so I really don't know. There doesn't appear to be anything about this on the Wiki ATM, nor is the information on the GCC homepage of any use (as far as I can tell with my limited knowledge)

Does anyone have a guide or Makefile for getting this thing to compile.

I have been trying to use this toolchain with Dev-C++ to no avail.... Right now I am not really that fussed... I will just use Notepad and a makefile/batch-script to compile my code.

Can anyone give me some pointers on getting this to run under win... lets pretend that I have nothing but WinXP installed (no IDE, not other SDK's).... what do I need to do?

Thanks... sry if this is a n00b question... but hey... i gotta start somewhere...

This is really good - been using it. I'm new to Gp2X development - and I've been tracking down loads of information on development across many different boards. Could you tell me where you sourced your arm-linux cross compiler?

Cheers
