GP2X Devkitgp2x First Cut

Now i can get started... learning to program :))

not to change the subject, but inopia, you have the best avatar on these boards! r+s kick arse!

is there an emulator in the works?
or is the only way to test compiled programs via real hardware?

Thank you, you are the man !

I have tried to make a donation - but my sourceforge account says I have not made it. This could be due to the login behaving erratically. I have had a receipt from paypal saying OSDN / VA Software has been paid - will you receive this ?

Does it support C++ ?

Yes, it does :)

Thanks muchly, just received notification from SF, looks like it's just a bit slow in getting through the system.

Where do I find information on what everything in that distribution means? Such as, what is the sysroot folder? What is the share folder? Which of the many include and lib folders do I use? Which of the bin folders do I use? gcc.exe or arm-linux-gcc.exe?

You use the toplevel bin folder which holds the arm-linux variants of the binaries.

The sysroot folder contains glibc 2.3.5

You ignore the many include and lib folders, the compilers know where they are and how to use them.

This is a first cut candidate release mainly for testing purposes. I'm currently uploading a second candidate which drops some unnecessary libraries and adds some other features needed for a production compiler.

There are some basic setup instructions for the other devkitPro toolchains which can be found at http://www.devkitpro.org/setup.shtml . devkitGP2X will probably be added to the windows installer in due course, giving you a one click devkit install.

This is a new process for us all and documentation will be forthcoming as we figure out build processes and extra libraries required. I still have some patches that I need to pass on to DJWillis which will allow the SDL libraries to be built using this toolchain and the lightweight msys *nix like shell system.

The latest release candidate can be found at http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.p...lease_id=372792

/me awards Ferentix a cookie for knowing which binaries to use :)

Anybody knows if there is a (windows)kit with gcc 3.4.4 or previous version for GP2X???

I need it because at least Z80 C emulator used by MAME GP32 does not run with GCC 4.0 and later version.

Thanks and regards.

GCC 3.4.4 with gLibC on MinGW could be a bit of a pain (GCC4/gLibC sure as hell was), if your using CygWin I think I can hook you up with a tool-chain that works so you can get started ;).

Is swapping out the Z80 core an option?

It is quite difficult to change Z80 core. Also i have not tested all cores and MAME 0.34 functionalities yet. Also a function coded by ME (video.c: update_display_rotated() ) does not run ok with GCC 4.0 or greater (it is only an example, i know it should be not too hard to solve this certain problem in this certain function). I don't know why everybody is changing to GCC 4.0 with such happyness and determination xDDD.

If you know how to get or build a GCC 3.4.4 (or previous version) devkit for windows, tell me please ;-).

Regards.

... Not to sound like a n00b or anything, but I use DevC++ and I was wondering where I extract this to? Do I just extract it to the DevC++ root or what?

Edit: Also how do i use it with the IDE at all...
