I'm In A Quandry, Of Sorts. Who To Pre-order From?

I've been trying to contact someone at GP32z.com since last week regarding pre-odering a GP2X. (being as I live in the U.S.) No response thus far.

Has anyone here gotten a confirmation about their pre-order status? I may go with GBAX.com, but cringe at the import & shipping fees. :(

I know I'm being impatient, but I'm loking forward to this new little device. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

TelcoLou, I'm sure that Craigix said in another thread that GBAx were the only people getting the first batch and somewhere else he said that there will be a shortfall until Christmas. Maybe he is drumming up sales, but if not then it might be hard to get one in the US until later.

Additionally, you are right about the creepling exchange rate, import taxes and shipping costs.

I'll try and find Craigix's posts that I am quoting.

Edit: bollocks grammar.

I believe that it was mentioned GBAX would be getting it's shippment in the first batch but never stated he was the ONLY one to be getting it. Someone else emailed GP32z and they replied that they should be gtting a shipment at the same time as GBAX.

All people have emailed so far are within the first batch.

We will take actual orders later in september with an october shipping date, first batches will be ready then. (and we are the only place getting the first batch)

When we are ready we will do a newsletter to all preorder people.

It will ship in October. So get those preorders in! Unit numbers are outragiously limited before xmas but we will do our best! At the moment we have enough units coming to fill all preorders, but I think come xmas there will be a shortage.

Found 'em, now I can go to bed and sleep well tonight :D

Alpha2, stand corrected. :p That's why I wanted to quote Craigix rather than post something as fact when I could easily have dreamt it:D

Thanks for the replies :)

Oh, what to do, what to do??? I may just go with GBAX ... I did get my BLU from them, and was more than satisfied with the level of service and freindly responses to my E-mails ...

GPH's website states a launch of late Oct (which would fall inline with Craig's posts) and a 'shipping' date of early Nov...whatever that means. So hopefully the time difference between the first batch and the worldwide release should be no more than a couple of weeks.

I stand corrected, but I never said it as "fact", I only said I "BELIEVE" that's what had been said as I havent been back to that post in a while. This was the last thing I read.

aw man!
so gbax will be the only that'll have the first batch?? so what about those of us that preordered with gp32z :(

I emailed GP32Z about that the other day, and he didn't think it was true. This is what he (David) wrote to me:

"We should be getting the Gp2x the same time as Craig does, but i'll double check for you."

And this followed while I was away:

David from GP32Z wrote me again, here's the key part:

"Sorry I just checked with GPH and they said Craig signed a contract with them so GBAX will be getting the units before anyone else will. It may be 1-2 weeks later when we receive the units so you will most likely receive your unit in early November."

Fine for people in Britain and Europe, but for people in USA and Canada it sucks. GP32Z is the only place here to directly buy Gamepark stuff from. <_<

So if you really want one ASAP, GBAX is the only place for the first week or two it seems. However, it will be much more expensive than buying from GP32Z - the exchange rates are high and shipping/fees are high. I think I'll just be late to the party and go with my GP32Z pre-order.

Anyone do the math yet, on what the total cost to have a GPX2 sent to the USA from GBAX is? I know last time I looked (when I was shopping for my BLU) it would've cost me like ~$70 more to buy from GBAX than with GP32Z! I don't know how much more a GP2X will be, but I'm guessing enough to make it worth it just to wait and buy from GP32Z.

I agree i will wait for it to come to the us. I am glad that craigx has done a lot of work for us but I just cant afford to order it from him. plus gp32z is a reliable source and I dont have a problem buying there.

Alpha2, I did read what you wrote and I wasn't intending to be rude, don't take offence.

I would agree that if I was a yank I would wait a week or two rather than add about 50% to the cost for the sake of a few days.

I got my answer from David at GP32Z.COM:

Hi Louis,

Yes you have been added to the Gp2x pre-order list. Estimated cost will be $184.99 and we will soon be collecting a $15.00 deposit that will cover shipping costs.

Best regards,
David

Yay! No insane import fees! No exhorbitant shipping costs!!

So, in other words, the total cost of buying from GP32Z is $200US? $15 for shipping seems a bit too much, judging from my past experiences at eBay (it's usually between 5 and 10 dollars). Any word on shipping to Canada (Toronto, for example)?

@Jarska333: You wouldn't understand, you live in Finland. :p All prices in North America always end in .99 - for example... $9999.99 - while in reality this is $10000, there's always the chance that some idiot will think it's closer to $9000 (don't laugh, I've seen people like that).

It happens on all parts of the world :p I'm from Spain and the prices always end in x.x9 € , just because it seems less expensive. Don't have to be an idiot, it's just a feeling. Marketing+psychology :p

Believe me, $15 is a bargain compared to what I paid when I got my GP32 BLU from GBAX ... Besides, he (David from GP32Z) may have to pay import fees for his batch of GP2X units, since he's in the U.S.

I second that. That's where I live so I'd very much like to know if GP32Z ships all the way north.
