Anyone knows if there's any remake or source code for this wonderful game? I just remembered how much i loved to play it :p
Or is there any port to any of the systems emulated by the GP anyone knows of?
Cheers

Look up Simutrans, its for PC but I think its opensource.
Edit: Its not, but I'd still try talking to the author if I wanted to port it.

maybe you can ask the devr to give you source

What's this? Is it a patch for the real transport tycoon?

yeah...kind of
it is using everything from the original game (GFX, SFX....) but provides a new executable.
Maybe if you can recompil it for our baby then it would just need the original game to work with the new FXE ;)

see you

I've actually been wondering about a game like this. Well, I've been surprised, that Rail Road Tycoon doesn't seem to be available for any systems emulated be out GP.

Would have thought it'll be available for either SNES or Mega Drive - but apparently not.

Remember playing that alot on the Amiga once - And been craving for it lately since I'm taking the train daily. (just feeling I could do better I guess)

It would seem that Transport Tycoon (even the "patched" version) and Simutrans use too much ram to be ported. :(

Well I did find something interesting about openttd. There is an unofficial port of it for a PDA named Zaurus.. There seem to be many models so the specs aren't clear, and they don't say what model it works on.
It's an ARM-based processor as well.. Does anyone think that this could help?
I will investigate further...

EDIT: Found this: has some technical tidbits about this version which I cannot understand ehehe and links back to the original page :p

I'm pretty sure we've gone over the reasons a port of OpenTTD would be impractical already. Most of the the Zaurus models have a much faster CPU, as well as a much nicer screen resolution (yes, converting graphics and UI code is a huge task to undertake for something like this, especially for PC games). OpenTTD also appears to rely very heavily on having the Linux C standard library underneath it, and GP32 Linux is not up to the task for most Linux ports. Granted, it does use SDL but I'd be overly pessimistic about the possibilities of a port.

A port of it with the RAM mod I'd see possible, probably have to run a high clock speed though, graphics would be a problem, this would be a heavy task, but I'm sure some system has a similar game somewhere. Transport Tycoon would be great, but I can live without it.
