Another tip from a self-proclaimed Wipeout freak:

Double-tapping the Left or Right shoulder button (air brake) will make your ship 'slide' or strafe in that direction; I find it useful for setting up a wide turn.

actually I do use the double tap quite a bit as well, usually in sharp turns where it seems to have helped quite a bit, but still... not making me a stranger to the walls by a long shot....

Now you know how I felt about mario kart double dash on the hardest special cup. "Oh they just MAGICALLY get blue shells everytime i'm about to pass the finish line."

LOL

Wipeout has always been HARD. Its one game you have to play to death even before ou get ANYWHERE in it! Thing is, it was so rewarding when you did! Very few games gave me such a buzz when I won a stage. Keep at it, and you'll get there. The air brakes are definitely the key!

Look Here

I'm pretty sure this is a hack using wipeout
thus making wipeout awesome

Edit:
This is what I was looking for. There is also a hack for wipeout the lets you access irc, but web browsing is easily the greatest thing ever.

Edit 2:
Here is where you can access irc through wipeout.

thanks for the echo :D
and yeah, wipeout has always been hard.
i have fond memories of me and some friends going at it all night on the original wipeout(or xl?) just trying to unlock everything. oh yeah, very rewarding, but almost too hard. i had to play it on and off to get far since you go crazy trying to do it all at once.

yeah well I'm taking a break now... go back to it in a week or so and see if I can't do any better once being so pissed off has worn off a bit :D

I cant beloeve VG+ keep putting my Tiger Woods back - 19th April now.

I went away last week and was expecting it to be here when I got back. All ready for the real golf. No joy.

What are you doing you b*stards?

At least I got my other two great games quickly and oh so cheaply to keep me entertained.

Got mine yesterday with games. Perfect no dead pixels nothing. Well can't talk to busy playing. Oh twisted metal f#$%ing rocks!

A few games keep getting pushed back... seems that now the launch has passed and those games didn't make it, the companies are going back and taking their time to polish them up a bit... can only be a good thing.

Tiger Woods, Hot Shots, FIFA... all pushed back, among others.

I was thinking about that right after I posted it... you know, I"ve never seen a copy of it at Gamestop, but admittedly, I haven't been looking too hard either, but got to thinking... it MUST be out by now I mean it was reviewed weeks ago.

Sorry for bad info there.

I sold Untold Legends and picked up Mercury today. Don't get me wrong Legends was fun but it was SUCH a dark game and even on the highest brightness setting it could be very hard to see sometimes, and of course, being a dark game, the blurring effect was very strong, very annoying. Despite the fact that Mercury had gotten some bad prelimary things said about it, Gamespot gave it a good review, and a couple of my friends at Gamestop played and liked it, so I figured why not. It sounds (and plays, I know now) a lot like Monkey Ball, which can only be a good thing :) I've only played about 20 mins of it but it seems pretty good so far.
