Glasto 2005

Highlights for me:

The "Lost Vagueness" field at 4am Saturday night - I heard some of the best breakbeat and drum n bass in a long time.
Tipi field (I'll put up a picture of my tipi soon).
Primal Scream - that singer bloke was so f**ked up its funny
Roots Manuva - ROOOOOOTS MAAANUUUUVA (quality act)
Soulwax - Put a lot of effort in, and 2 Many DJs was great on the last night.
Ian Brown and Jon Squire - legends in northern music.
The G Stage sound system - for a small stage the sound felt like punching a hole in my brain. When they played Aphex Twin I was going a bit nuts.
Engine Room - Trinidadian Steel Drum band
Stone Circle - Drumming and Hippies getting high.
Eating with the Hare Krishnas (food was free)
White Stripes - Jack White knows his guitar. Fact.

oh and er.. Coldplay :)

Lowlights:

Lost Vagueness Toilets. Someone shat on the side and made me wretch a bit.
The Mud. Although friendly hippies showed us how to dig an irrigation channel to get rid of the water.

the line up is always awful, my girlfriend went in 93 i think and she said it was awsome, just not my cup of tea i think, i been to reading a few times, last time in 2000 and it gradually over the years started to attract knob heads for some reason, i went to download a few weeks back but i didnt really enjoy it apart from the anthrax original line up and as i lay dying, i think im too old.

Just getting over my post Glasto blues

My highlights...

The sound system between orange tent and the pyrmaid stage. had two huge lit up green stars either side of the dj box and was playing an abolute blinding sets of electro/breaks, went every night till it finshed at 3am, anyone know what the sound system was and who was playing?

Pear Cider a very refershing potent tasty drink. Shame they kept selling out of 2 liters
Lost Vagueness - a totally surreal and cool experince, Never knew this little kitsh town exsited up there people dressed in morning suits and ball gowns and all the music tents were banging 24 hours :)
Tge tiny t-shop on the outskirts made out like a bedoin tents full of nutters :) Sitting having a brew while making special cigs along with everyone other bugger
The cool bizzarre and sometimes quite frankly freaky statues and monuments round the sight
The new Dance field felt like 4 raves in a field, well laid out and looked fantastic
Watching the Sun come up over the stonce circle most mornings and the roar of the crowds when it did.
The happy and fiendly people, the vibe was awesome in fact the whole experince was fantastic. I love the creative effort that goes into making such a mesmersing place.

Bands
GO Team! Simply rocked the show were fantastic and the crowd were going mental for them.. best act for me
Mylo when he played under pressure the crowd when fricking crazy
(In fact when i watch my videos of both the above brings a lump and a tear to my eye both were amazing!)
Kaiser Chiefs just outshone by GO team.
GLC well there always good entertaimnent
The Kilers/Bravery and Bloc Party all equally great.
Fatboy slims show was brilliant, wish i could have used the 3d glasses but they don't work with my eyesight :(

Thigs i'd wish id done:

Spent more time in Lost Vaguness
Gone to the midnight carnival
Going to bed a bit earlier rather than 8am and missing a lot of bands due trying to catch up on my sleep. Although Although never slep saturday and only had 2 hours kip Monday morning.. go me!

Annoyances
Basically the rain :( Put such a downer on my friday although once i got hold of some wellies got over it :)
Killed my phonelosing me a young ladys number and not being able to conatct a few people who i was supposed to hook up woth over the festival.
Brand new £300 quid camera droping in the mud... basically pulled out a bar of mud soap.. amazingly i managed to get it weorking.. althought the lens won't close
New order not playing blue monday grrrr...
My mates caning it and making me late and pretty much missing most of 2 bands i really wanted to Bloc Party made it for there last few tracks.. The killers last 3 tracks.
Friend getting pulled over by a police road block we told them not to put the car sticker until they approached the site. They were pretty much shitting themselves for the

Basically Glastonbury rocks and is an amazing experience, it shits from a very high height on all the other festivals, the likes of V and Reading pale in significance.. i've being going to V and Reading for years and to be quite honest i can't be arsed with them since i've been to glastonbury over the past few years.. V after midnigt what can you do apart from sit round back at camp.. glasto theres a whole new wierd and wonderful world of things to do and explore.

Hopefully more people will think its is crap cause far too many people want to go already hence all the 120,000 tickets sell out in 2 1/2 hours.

Shame got to wait till 2007 now :( and keeping fingers crossed i can get tickets next time.

Still got my wrist band on proud!

It's an advertising festival, where lots of bands get together to promote various products (and getting people to pay for it at the same time!).

;)

Glastonbury is a rubbish festival with a bunch of harmless mediocre rock bands.

Haha.
So true.

I think your thinking of V

make s me laugh to see someone calling it rubbish, obvoiusly never been and hopefully will never go :p

People forget its not just about the bands is the whole experince. I never wanted to go to glastonbury before but soo glad i changed my mind :)

I've got the Glastonbury blues pretty bad, literally the very next day I started my round the world tour (carried on drinking on the plane with some pretty muddy clothes!) and am on the west coast of California. 2007 seems like a long time to go, but it'll be back.

Tell me about it was well depressed last week. lol you went on the plane with muddy clothes.. did you not have a wash. i felt well stinky having to get on the crowded commuter trains at clapham. Was hoping people realised i'd been top glasto and not a stinky tramp.. remember meeting a friend in the street straight after reading years ago and asked my mate if he fancied a pint. He refused as he said i smelt like a tramp

Anyone spotted any people with the green wrist bands yet... i haven't.

Still wearing mine :) and will do till it falls off ;) At least this years one is better than last years. Last years didn't have glastonbury written on it

yeh I had a couple of showers or so, but didnt have time to get some of the mud out of my clothes.

Wine Valley up here is so nice...

I don't think I'll be coming back to the UK until early next year, since the job I did before I left I hated so much - plus the money I saved is better spent on my round the world trip than my original plan of getting a car.
