Hi

To start with this is my first experience with gpcinema and I am sure it has been covered before but I can't find all the info I need so any help will be much appreciated.

I rip a DVD with DVD decrypter so that It is saved on my harddrive.

Use DVDx2.3 and make a single mpeg of about 980mb

Load this into virtual dub 1.6.4 and make sure I have XviD-04102002-1 _ALPHA_ Release loaded.

vd loads and I enycrypt. On first pass I get a 30mb file. Try second pass and all I get is a blank screen but the file size is about 180mb and will not load in windows. On second pass if I abort I get a running avi with no picture but sound.

I am sure I am doing something stupid. Any ideas?

I'm not sure but I think the only xvid codec you can use is this one.

I doubt that would be what is causing your problem though. We'd need to know what other settings you are using in VDub like what audio compression you're using, if you are using any filters etc.

Here's a guide to encoding for gpcinema. Read through it and you might notice what you have done wrong.

You can directly rip your dvd to your harddrive with DVDx. You don`t need DVD decrypter.

And you can rip it directly as an Avi, DivX or XviD (with DVDx), which is VirtualDubs preferred video format.

When I try to encode MPEGs with VDub, it sometimes causes problems (for me, atleast).

Spot on man.

Avi format did the job.

Cheers all
