Okay well the review does it for me http://psp.ign.com/articles/597/597359p1.html
Well I was going to buy it anyway

Games I recommend NOT wasting your money on in my opinion:

Spiderman 2 (can be finished in one battery charge, thats saying quite a lot eh? :p)
ATV offroad fury (Crappy version of the PS2 game)
Darkstalkers (unless you really like darkstalkers, its not worth the admission price, come on capcom this chosen over streetfighter?????)
Dynasty Warriors (hm never liked the Dynasty, plus its buggy/frame rate issues.)

Well thats mostly the only games I've read a lot about.....

Also I thought IGN gave Ridge Racer way too high a score....

It's coming in 6 days, along with Lumines and that Brotherhood game.

:D

I'm a Wipeout fan from early on; one of, if not THE best PS1 game, IMHO.

I can't fucking wait!!

Wipeout XL or 2097 as it was known here is one of THE best games I've played. Lumines and Untold legends eh? Good choice

just the thread i need

i will definitely be ordering THUG2 and Tiger Wood and was thinking of getting ridge racers as well, for £100 i can get four games including delivery so am going to give it a go.

is wipeout going to be that much better than ridge racers? what other game should i get?

I got lucky;

I pre-ordered a bundle ($399) from EBGames on 3/5. I got to pick from 4 things; games and accessories (I picked the 3 games and that corny-ass aluminum carry case) ... 2 days later, I noticed this offer was no longer available (they still have bundles, but from pre-chosen games) and a disclaimer read that all pre-orders made on or after 3/8 would ship on 4/1.

Oh definately, if I gave Wipeout pure 10 out of 10, I'd give Ridge Racer a 7.5. Get twisted metal Head on! another great game, or Metal gear acid or NFSU Rivals.

@ TelcoLou yes very lucky :)

I picked up Spiderman and Tony Hawk today. Tony Hawk, so far, is everything I expected, which is to say if you like Tony Hawk games, it is pretty damn good and is very impressive for a PSP game as well, I'd go so far as to say, one of if not the best looking PSP game of the ones I've played.

Spiderman isn't bad, I guess if you have liked any of the console versions so far (PS1 or PS2). It also looks very good but the framerate can get choppy at times. Otherwise it's fun, haven't beat it yet so dont know just how short it is but spiderman games in general are usually short so this wouldn't suprise me. Well it's more fun than dynasty warriors :p

I dunno I dont regret buying either of them and anyways if you dont want to beat spiderman in one sitting then turn the difficulty on hard (you pansies!) I mean it is freakin HARD on hard you can't just run up to the bad guys and wail on em you gotta out think them (not that they are smart but they are friggin snipers with their guns on hard mode!).

Too bad they didn't have Wipeout...

Cool your already playing them :). When you play Thug 2 more I'd like more info if possible so I can decide whether to get it or not :).

Yeah Everyone said stick spiderman 2 on hard to make it more fun :)

what more info would you want on THUG? It's basically the PS2 version, it controls fine, looks great, and just by looking thru menus and such, seeing how many levels there are and different play modes and all that, it looks like I'll be able to play this one for a long time to come. Ask any specific questions and I"ll try to answer them either now or after I've had some more time with it.

About spiderman... apparently it has a Lot of levels though the levels do seem to be fairly short. I'm having a hard time with it because controls wise, it is a mix of spiderman 1 and 2 console versions (the ones based on the movie), so I get mixed up, espeically with the web swinging... I played 2 on Xbox a LOT and am so used to that method of swinging. If I can beat it very quickly I may take it back in and abuse Gamestop's return policy, and exchange it for wipeout :p

Hmmm well I'm not sure?? The last Tony Hawk I played was 3, which I played to death, but kinda got burnt out after 1,2, and 3, so didn't buy four or either of the undergrounds.

Right off the bat, the gameplay of course is very similiar to 3, so i wouldn't say it is more or less fun. I guess the only big difference is of course the world tour mode, which I don't know much about, but I know that the addition of world tour mode in the first Underground game was enough for most people who played it (many of which swore that after TH 4 they were done with TH games because they were just getting too repetitive) to love it. So there must be something pretty special about the tour mode :) I couldn't say if it's enough to justify buying the game if you are tired of Tony Hawk games. Since I haven't played one since 3, I'm not burnt out anymore and this game so far is kickass IMO. So how burnt out are YOU on TH?

Hm sounds too good to be true :p hehe. I felt ripped of with 3 and I just played 4 at a games store for a bit.......I guess I may buy it than :D Well after I buy, MGA, wipeout and twisted :)

i'll hussle to get LUMINES and wipeout on launch.

lumines looks awesome from the vids, and the video review over at gamespot really glorified the game. plus it's made by the same guy(s) that made REZ! i love that games' style.

man, i can't wait till next week. it's gonna be a blast! oh yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

(i've converted some vids in preparation, hehe)

edit:

yeah, dynasty warriors looks like crap. i was trying to get a friend to reconsider gettting that game, but he's dead set on buying it.
and capcom should def. port SF 3rd strike or other SF classics. if not, then let's hope for a cps2? emulator? nah, that'll prolly never happen.

well I dunno the more I play Dynasty Warriors the more I like it... though I'm still nowhere close to calling it 'great' by any means, it is fun... I mean if you ever liked games like Streets of Rage, Double Dragon or Final Fight... then you probably would like this game... same kinda thing. Except it adds in a whole strategic element as far as which battles you choose to fight and which areas you try to liberate. I'm still a little lost on the game since I have the Japanese one, but have figured out enough to make good progress.

I'd say it definately deserves the 7 (or 6) out of 10 score that Gamespot gave it. There is definately something to be said for running into a group of 20+ swordsmen and just knocking the stuffing outta all of them... reminds me of the scene in Lord of the Rings where Sauron is knocking fools all over the place, hitting bunches of them at a time with his giant mace and they go flying... similiar feeling playing Dynasty Warriors :)

it's not out yet. I will most likely pick that up as I had a lot of fun with Baldurs Gate: Dark Alliance on the PS2. So far it has gotten favorable previews.
