Whgats the best mame emu that can play street fighter zero and cadillac &dinosaurs?

well i dont think there is a working Mame emu at the moment, but i have heard that rlyeh is working on one...

for gp32? A mame emu isnt really out yet .. and I dont think rleyhs will be able to play sf Zero (in a playable state)
for PC? Mame32 is probably the easiest to use

The basic games such as Pacman etc. can run with what I think's called the Multiple Game Emulator (sorry to the dev, my mind has gone blank on it's name) but no really advanced games run.

Your best bet is to either get a copy of PCEngine (is has some great arcade ports-Outrun is arguably better than the Mega Drive version) or load up DRMD or FGEN.

Even IF a version of MAME was out, and even IF it incorporated Cyclone (CPS1 and CPS2 are 68000 based) for decent fps, you would still have a very big problem...

C&D ROMs unzipped is ~8MB, and SFZ ROMs unzipped is around 15MB. GP32 has 8MB RAM, and you need space for the emu to reside and some work space too.

So even IF a CPS system was someday playable on GP32, you would have a small selection of games to choose from.

Unless some code was implemented so that the games could be spooled from the card. Much like the GBA emulator that supports roms upto 8 or was it 16 meg (thats bytes. Not bits), And the GBA itself, With it`s puny 256kb of memory.

It's Multipac and it's made by Franxis who is working in port of MAME. This MAME now runs some small roms (tetris y gng) and it has a 68k core, When it'll be improved it'll run a lot of roms like SnowBros and other roms as old as it. Franxis has said that a GPMAME beta i'll be released en MadridSX on 5th of March.

Excuse my english please :)

MultiPac is just for Pac-Man games (Multiple Pac-Man). It was nice but even just Pac-Man wasn't full speed yet. I am still a bit sceptical about how well MAME will run on the GP32. If you can't even get Pac-Man running full speed with sound than you are truly dreaming if you think ANY 16-bit stuff will run at a decent speed, especially with any kind of audio.

PC version.

GP32 will never be able to do those at any playable speed. We will be lucky if Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, and Galaga run decent with sound.

Remember that you can use old sources from old versions of MAME, which ran perfectly in slow PCs with little RAM. 5 o 6 years ago, MAME ran much classic games, and it didn't need too much power for it. When I say "classic games" you know what games are :D

Yours,

You are being exaggerated. :)

Franxis's MAME GP32 will not only be able to emulate ok classic games like which your you say, but also later games ("neoclassics" X-D) like Rygar, Legendary Wings, Xain Sleena, Black Tiger, Wonder Boy and many more...

A little of patience man ;-)

Un Saludo.

You are so exceptical...

My MAME port is running PERFECTLY NOW in example: Tetris, Wonder Boy, Arkanoid 1 & 2, Bomb Jack, Donkey Kong, Pacman, Galaxian, Galaga, Frogger, Kung Fu Master, 1942, Choplifter, Mario, Motos, Moon Cresta, Traverse USA...
Now at 80% aproximately: Ghosts'n Goblins, Commando, Gunsmoke, Pinball Action, Rygar, Section Z, Breakthru, 1943, Side Arms, Trojan, Terra Cresta ... in fact a little slow, but in playable way.
Now at 50% (slow): Snow Bros, Tokio, Psycho Nicks Oscar, Xain Sleena, Double Dragon, Iron Horse, Tehkan World Cup...
It does not run now: Black Tiger (i don't know why), Tiger Road (not enough memory), Toki (not enough memory), Sly Spy (not enough Memory), Robocop (not enough memory)...
I'm testing a collection of 800 games, and probably at least 600 of them are playable (total size of all games aprox. 50 Mb zipped).

But probaby i will improve the performance during these days...

The first beta will be presented in MadriSX party in Madrid (Spain) on March 5. It will be available for everyone in Internet on March 6...

But please if someone know the way to pass through gp32 sound bug and vertical scanlines, e-mail me (fjmar at hotmail point com).

Franxis you have me salivating !!!

If Bombjack runs full speed then thats just a dream !!! Are those games you mentioned with or without sound ? Dont mind either way but just like to know.

I've got a ton of MAME cd's and the earlier MAME games are my favourites so i cant wait. Another one i would love you to look at is Bubble Bobble ;-)

If Commando finally runs 100% then my dream is complete ! ;-)

Thanks for the update Franxis

The big question is are those games mentioned with sound ON? Audio is important, and in my post I said that I have doubts that these games will work a a good speed (without alot of FS) with sound. With no audio then yes I believe that those games you mentioned will work at a playable speed. I know that many of us don't play games much without sound though.

Many coders have tangled with the monster code that is MAME, and on small devices have not had too good of luck in the past. I wish you luck :)

What about the Williams classics - Joust, Defender, Robotron, etc.? Any support?

Also, my personal favourite - Rampart!

Keep up the good work Franxis!

Atari ST has a great port of joust
