Shiney Thingy

These are cool, I wonder if you could make one? Attach a video decoder card to an external harddrive?
Here's a shop in america selling them much cheaper, they have an 80gb model for £155
Edit: They don't ship outside the US, though.

Well, thats my next big purchase decided on :)

I haven`t got one myself, As i`ve got its bigger brother (18.1 inch). I purchased one for a mate to go with the computer i was building for him. At that time they were £197 inc vat and it was worth every penny then, Crisp clear display and no bluring what so ever on every game, Demo or video i used to test it with. That was 3-4 months ago, And he is still very chuffed with the quality of the display and comments on it nearly every time he switches it on.

Just my 2p.

without being to much of a fan boy, I didn't even need to read the page. The brand name alone was enough. LG fuckin rock!

£300 for 2 17" monitors is a sweet deal as well. Just have to wait for my next loan cheque now!

[edit] d'oh missed the VAT. Still its a good deal anyways!

I asked them....they gave a speady reply for this time of night....

Hi Luke,

No, they will require power when not plugged into usb, so in that sense they can't be used “ipod” style, however they both have mains adaptors with them but I see no reason why you couldnt use a powerpack to power them provided it was the correct voltage/amperage.

I guess the thinking is that you will need a mains supply to power a tv so it can be used to power the HDDivX players as well.

If you need any more info let me know.

Best

That actually doesn't bother me that much, I already have an MP3 player, but I've been puzzling for ages for a way to use my d/ld videos on a regular TV. This is just the ticket.
And its small enough that you can take it round a mates house with no hassle.

I know, but I really don't have the space to have two 17" crt monitors, also CRT monitors have a much larger casing that kind of destrys the seamless effect I'd be after in a multi-monitor setup. I'm a designer you see and need space to open my flash librarys and tool bars on one screen and then the sstage on the other, or edit video using premier full screen on one monitor and tools on the other.

red vs. blue

I would still rather have a small japanese Toshiba or Sony Laptop or something over this thing

How about this Vaio... Super Small Vaio

It doesn't have tv out but it does have VGA out and you can always get one of those adapters... too bad it costs so much :p but it is darn neat and would do all of the things your pc can do on a 5 inch screen.
