Fake/prank 'warez' to scare pirates poopless!

hackers and pirates (the Geocities searching kind) Will fall for almost anything, so making a bunch of 'false' roms that they will run on an emulator or their GP32 would be a pretty hilarious way to scare pirates straight... Ideas....

1: False virus that shows an animation that says 'You now have legion virus!' (picture of a corrupt screen, doesn't actually harm GP32 but scares them poopless)

2: Fake loading bar with a broadcast tower animated icon that says 'Sending police report to local authorities VIA sattelite...'

3: An animation of the ring from the ring (complete with creepy radary sound) and a picture that jumps up and screams when they least expect it and it says on screen 'And to think, you'd live more than 7 days if you didn't search for warez.....'

4: The popular 'you are an idiot' song/animation found commonly on the web.

5: REALLY REALLY insanely fast strobeing colors/lights with the text 'Warez users deserve seizures!' (malicious I know, so you can ignore this one)

Unfortunately this idea isn't going to work...remember when Madonna put her 'custom' versions of her songs on Kazaa (or another network) that had her saying "What the **** do you think you're doing?" over and over? Well, her site got hacked and the hackers put up links to the real versions of the songs. No matter what you try, they're not gonna work, if someone downloads one of these 'special' copies, they'll just find another copy elsewhere. Look on eMule, there's tons of them being distributed, all ripped by one guy. I only bothered to download Her Knights because I own the SMC but I wanted to put the game on my 128MB SMC so I won't have to carry 2 around.

(edited because of possible trouble) The only way to truly stop a warez user is to damage their GP32 I know.

BUT I AM NOT ENDORSING THIS IDEA AT ALL

Too cruel of a fate, even for the most pathetic and annoying of pirates... But harmless prank programs and such I don't see how they could harm anything (hacking the main GP32 site is pointless, and hacking a geocities site is like cracking open a piggy bank, too small of a challenge to a hacker)

Sorry, but this ist the most stupid post I have read for a long time. In case you didn't know it: The main reason for buying a GP32 is the amount of great emulators available. (By saying that I guess I speak for 98 % of all GP32 owners.) Most of the commercialy available games are sh*t..
If there were no emus, this forum probably wouldn't even exist and the GP32 would be dead by now !
Don't tell me, you don't use any emus on your GP32 ! If using emus and searching for roms makes you a pirate than I am a pirate, as well as about 98% of all people on this board !!
What a great idea to scare those people away or even destroy their GP32 !
RoboJoe32: Of course you only use homebrew games. I am sure you also own a original catridge of every rom you use on any emu... <_<

CHEEERS

Bungholio, i agree, a very good point in this discussion.

Yeah, well, with just ONE point you need to clarify:

Playing ROMS if you don't own it is illegal, that's for sure.

BUT in MOST cases there is no way of getting those old games... except sometimes on eBay,
and if I see a good one, I buy it (pretty cheap :))

But you STILL can get GP32 Warez games, and they're pretty cheap to buy too, so we
relly shouldn't warez them!

Besides: For "Backup" purposes... if you buy the game via download, you can keep thousands of
backups if you like cause it's encrypted to work only on your GP32, it doesn't care about the SMC.

And for the SMC-Versions of the games: Does anyone HAVE a faulty SMC? I can't imagine how
you accidentally "delete" an original game (I never did that to any floppy disk on my Amiga...)

And I assume IF you have a faulty GP, GamePark (or Entware) will replace that game...

Im sure if you deleted your smc data you could email entware or gamepark with your smc id (with proof of purchase), and they could send you an email with the data your need.

I wasn't TALKING about emulation -_-' Emulation is good, I was talking about people dumping .SMC files of official games and putting them on websites, THAT warez, put away the beatdown club and pull the stick out of your arse...

GP32 Warez... Why?

I mean - Why bother. There are only a VERY limited number of games available for the unit. The majority of users are playing emulators and using roms (Well... I suppose you go into the whole "Rom" scene, but I'm skipping that!) so I really don't see the point of cracking only a hand-full of games...

It's a strange world we live in!

Nightstar, the sites a joke site (if you didn't see the screenshot of ASR, if you did you'd know it was a joke)

Hi people, first post, getting GP32 after the weekend...
there is a BIIIIIIGGGG difference between warez and emulation.

Unfortunately, I don't think the law would agree with you.

It's strange, I think the GP32 is one of the worse possible formats for warez, because you really need to trust the software you put on it.

And I doubt there is a huge warez problem (as opposed to roms, anyway), simply because there are so few good commercial games. And they are fairly cheap and easy to download anyway. So is there much evidence of pirated commercial GP32 games? Warez sites, or stuff on Kazaa? This all seems a bit of an overreaction. Or maybe my quick look wasn't hard enough.
