Hi! I'm new to this forum, as you can see, and I've officially been an owner of the GP32 for 2 days now :) but anyhow, to my problem I am stuck with...

I am using GomWing's divx avi player (cant get Movie Park - no credit card :( ) and I seem to have followed an avi encoding guide to make a suitable avi file to run under the divx avi player on the GP32, but when i watch the movie, it seems to be going too fast.. the audio has also taken an effect in this result (it's also going faster, and is higher-pitched..). Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

And on a side note: just call me Kirby :D

I have never tried that divx player before because I do have movie park and am very happy with it. Were the encoding instructions that you followed for that divx player or were thye for movie park. If they were for movie park the player that you are trying to use might require diffrent framerates or bitrates. If it is running too fast I am not sure what the priblem could be but you might wqant to try tweaking the encoding prefrences. For example if you made the video run at a higher framerate it might slow it down alittle so that might be the problem. Like I said I have just been using movie park and have come up with processing settings which I have saved which do the trick so I don;t even have to think about it before compressing a video so I am not sure what the problem could be.

Hmm.. I am setting framerate to a higher number in Virtual Dub, but when i preview my movie it seems to go faster, but the audio remains unchanged and is at normal speed.. any way to fix that?

try to see if there's a framerate limiter option. and by the way what is the framerate your using right now and where did you get this player?

Are you encoding by changin the framerate value in Virtualdub? If so, you've made a mitake, I'm afraid - you need to use the "decimate by" function. Don't touch the framerate unless you want your movie to look like its being fast forwarded and have chipmunk syndrome.
That said, if you already did that, all I can suggest is decimating by a smaller number (2 if you used 3 before), or by increasing the bitrate. Other than that, I can't help you I'm afraid.

BTW: GomWing's Divx player - is that the one that uses GundamOP.avi as a fixed file to play or something else? If it is that one, remember that the max length of file you can play with it is 6 and a half mins (maybe give or take 2 or 3 seconds).

That is the player that runs the GundamOP.avi ... you mean it stops after the time indicated then, or is the longer length of the video shortened down in order to speed it up like i've encountered?

Nah, you can have video file that go one for as long as you like - 1 hour, 2 hours - whatever. But once it his 6 and a half mins into it, the GP32 resets. Someone suggested its something to do with static memory allocation as opposed to dynamic that stops it continuing, I think. But it couldn't cause the problems you're experiencing - the only thing I know of that could I've already told you...

How do I increase the bitrate? And is it possible to stop the GP32 reset once playing time reaches 6mins 30secs? I would get Movie Park, but no one in my family has a credit card so I cant register n' pay for it :( somebody help me!

I know this would be a rather stupid question, although the board says that doesnt exist here.. but is it possible anyone could give me a copy of Movie Park? I would appreciate it.. ;)

Errm... well, someone *could* but firstly it wouldn't work most probably on account of being not encrypted to your GP32 PDUID, and secondly if anyone ever found out they'd be slaughtered by the rest of the community...

The 6 min thing is inevitable, unfortunately... You could always write to Entware and see what they say about your situation...

I'll try write to entware... hmm... now if only my email account was actually working and not "temporarly unavailable" as it has been over the last 3 days or so... <_<

On a side note, I read from a review that encrypted data on one SMC could be cracked to be used on other SMCs for other GP32s, but seeing that's not allowed, i guess i'll just have to do without this movie player.. (sigh) :(

If anyone knows, how do i increase the bitrate on my avi? I have no clue..
If you are using virtual dub to encode you movie for the GP32.

Load your movie as normal, Then goto the video menu and select "compression" (Forth item down). In the window that comes up select "DivX Codec 4.12" in the left hand list, Then click the "Configure" button on the right.
The bitrate adjuster is the 3rd item down on the left or use the slider below that. Baring in mind that 128 kbps is the maximum recommended for the GP32.

Hope this helps. :)
