i talked with yoyofr about opensnes

he told me that the next version of opensnes will have a option to put the games fullscreen (stretch)

he asked me to tell you this

i dont know about asm core sound. but he told me that a fullscreen mode in easy and fast to do , so it will surely have it in the next version of Opensnes.
i just told him that opensnes will be great with asm core sound, but he didnt answer me about this. but i suppose it will have it

YES YES...................................this will make snes emulation that bit better. oh would you please ask him about a snes database function?

also do you know if this will slow down emulation a lot? (full screen)

hm, don't think fullscreen will look very good, because the resolution of the snes now is 256x224.
to make it 320 in width you have to interpolate 64 column, which means you have to duplicate every 4th column. so it will look somehow strange....

but a version with optional transparencies would be awesome....

the bordered screen doesn't ever bother me, in fact i hardly ever notice it.

the screen is big enough already. but hey if he wants to put it in, be my guest!!! I just like any talk that concerns "the next version of OSNES9x.." that is always a good sign!

I dont notice the border either. And to be honest, I'd porefer it to look nice and sharp and have a border, than be interpolated and all wibbly and have no border...

THe only thing that bugs me about the border is the colour changes sometimes in the middle of a game (very distractiong....) if he can keep it one colour then great :)

in fact, I told that next version (if done by me, so if I have time) will probably
have such an option since it's asked often for.
but IMHO, it will looks poor, as it already looks on the zodiac which have
fullscreen stretching thanks to the graphic chipset.

so plz gbfan, if you want to tell the other what I told you, please respect
what I say ;)

I totally agree about the fullscreen. Scaling on an LCD especially when the resolution is so close to 1:1 looks like shite and I will never use it.

I wish he would spend the time with the sound mixing routeens instead as they actually seemed better in the old release. In my opinion it would be time much better spent. But of course that is totally his choice.

Will the sound be coded in ASM?

I think the sound is in ASM, it is the mixing that isn't and that is causing the problem from what I hear.

anyway i loved the stretch fullscreen mode of the yoyo nes emu !! for me it looks great

anyway do someone have notice that nes emu run at 92% of real speed . with auto frameskip like frameskip 0 or 1.

if someone know a way to put it at 166 mhz tell me , because it would be nice to try vsync on without lost of speed

(ps. anyway sorry yoyo if i misundertand what you told me before)

Errm... LittleJohnGP runs fullspeed at my place. I often even disable the auto frameskip and switch to frameskip 0.
Nicer looking and on most games still fullspeed.

MegaMan 1 and 2 run at fullspeed with frameskip 0 and VSync on, couldn't be any better :)

I'm not at all bothered about the screen stretch as I'd rather have it as it is without any scaling or shimmering.

The small thing he could do quickly which would please me is to strip out the loading intro and music etc to make a smaller FXE and let us actually get into the rom browser etc faster! (Version 0.2 starts a lot faster than 0.3) Frodo or FGEN is the ideal model for this, a fast startup with no fancy bells & whistles.

I just reckon the games should be the stars, rather than having the emulator struggle to impress with graphics etc...

I agree, I think that the more overclocking settings available to the user the better...It couldn't do any harm to offer more options could it.

(unless some of this overclocking has an adverse effect on sound or stability etc)

yeah there is a OC version but only of Osnes0.2
Because of the speed up between 0.2 and 0.3 I think a clock @ 200 or more 0.3 version would be really great

see you
