Running at 1024x768 at high quality.

Got a Geforce 4 Ti4600 and an AMD 3000+ CPU all capped off with 512Mb RAM.
Why must you turn this into a HOUSE OF LIES!!!
What in the name of flying rat's asses are you on about???

Well... get about 25-30fps in quiet areas, and goes down as low as about 14fps when it's busy. May be becasue I dont play that many games it seems fine to me, but then I'm not particularly demanding fps-wise....

EDIT: Blimey! Just updated to the NIvidia drivers rather than the pants creative drivers and noticed a heck of a speed increase. Had probs with the nvidia drivers with me last Motherboard and DX9, so had to go to creative drivers, but have now gone back to nvidia drivers and knocked the res down to 800x600 and got 60 odd fps in quiet areas, going down to 25fps when all goes mental. I like my 1024x768 though - definitely looks damn nice. Will have to see....

I just did the Timedemo test benchmark in doom 3, finished with 1024 by 768 resolution high detail, 71FPS on my GeForce6800 ultra, the lowest ive seen in the game is about 30.. then again thats good since i have an athlon mobile XP. Now im hungry for more, the game runs well playable though.. i should think so for a 411 quid video card mind you :D
Your spec makes me jealous, so I'll rain on your parade: for £100 less you could have got a Geforce 6800 GT which a) is only 4fps slower at 1600x1200 4xAA 4xAF high, and B) ridiculously easy to overclock to 6800 Ultra-levels, much like the mobile XP is to ridiculous clockspeeds.

Suprisingly enough, I ran doom3 fine with a computer that's under the official minimal requirements. I still have the same old computer i've had for years, Pentium Celeron 1.2ghz, 256mb ddr ram, the original SbLive!, a Radeon9200SE (pci version, haha) I ran it in 640-480 and got about a usual 25-30 frames per second with all the effects on, but sometimes it would drop down to 5.

aha, but i did not waaste my time on my 6800 ultra.. for it an XFX model.. so the clocks are close to the ultra extreme, 425mhz core, 1.2ghz (600mhzddr) memory
Yes but you did waste a considerable amount of money. If you have daddy to go out and buy you graphics cards that's fine, but some of us are more careful with the cash.

lol exactly ;p & some of us got a wife, a home, a car & maybe some child & thus have really many things to buy prior than an extremly expensive graphic card ;)

but btw I admit that those kind of graphic cards are really awesome, but I would never put soooo much bucks only in it ;)

3 Ghz P4 here with 1Gig of ram, 2xRaptors in Raid0, 2xMaxtor SCSIs, Radeon 9800 Pro, WinXP Pro.

640x480, Low Detail. If I go any higher it jerks like hell :(

Something is wrong there. You should be able to go at least up to 800x600 at med detail with that setup.

Jeez, I'd say you should be able to have full detail with that setup.

Not full detail with that video card but should be a lot higher than it is.

If I run it at 800x600 med-detail, then it randomly freezes. Audio is still there, but you can't move - sometimes I can kill the game from Windows Task Manager, so doesn't seem like a graphics driver/card problem, but I'll try updating the drivers anyway just in case.

Are there any patches for this game yet? I just installed and run. No other game I've got has crashed (ever).

I can get full at low res with a 9600xt so a 9800 pro shouldn't have any problem! I mean it was a top of the range £300 card 6 months ago, things haven't changed that much.

My computer is weird. Heres the spec:
750Mhz Duron
Blaster5 5600FX Ultra
320MB SD RAM

Right, on the spec sheet it is pure shit for gaming, but it can run Halo and Battlefield 1942 on full detail, highest res etc. with minimum slowdown. Kind of cool.

Hay, I've just upgraded the drivers (26mb download over 56K modem, ouch!)

Good news: It no longer crashes and I can now play it in 800x600 Medium quality without jerking :)
