Ok, PPC isn't for me, and I'm now bored of Zodiac devving, and I've not released anything yet !

I've sold the PPC, and the Z, well, I'll be keeping it as a PDA, but doing little development for it. I don't know what it is, but coding for the GP32 seems much more fun.

Now, do I keep my FLU or upgrade to a BLU? Does anyone have both a BLU and a Z and can compare image quality?

Secondly, is FLU firmware compatible with the BLU? I seem to remember something about holding down a button for the backlight?

Hey Squidge, and welcome back :); good to have you with us again :)

Dunno about upgrading - up to you; the image quality, from what I hear, is brilliant on a BLU compared to an FLU (though me, I'm satisfied with the frontlight). I've heard comments like you can actually use them in strong sunlight and such - which is a big improvement.

You've probably already had a look here, but its got some side-by-side pics of an FLU, a BLU, and a couple of a Zodiac if you haven't checked there yet. It used to have some slightly scary pics of Davey's girlfriend too, but I think he took those down lol.

:D

Great news - Welcome Back!

I have both a FLU and a BLU - Firmware is completely compatible. I flashed my BLU to GPbios almost as soon as I got it so I could start using all my SMC's straight away.

Switching the backlight on and off is unaffected by the flash - just hold down select for about 5 seconds and it switches off.

Hope that helps a bit!

Oh my God!!!
Woo hoo!

The Firmware form a FLU is compatible inside a BLU.
But you hold down select for 3-5 seconds for the BLU's light to switch off/on.

I have had both a FLU and a BLU and would say that the BLU's image is very high quality. There are some pictures in a post by dave fontan somewehere

I can't compare a BLU's picture quality with a Zodiac as i do not hae one but it looks very similar (just smaller).

However do not get rid of the FLu as BLU's are not very visible in very strong sunlight.

Welcome Back! :D

Heh Squidge, I knew you'd be back soon ;)

Supposedly it's software, not hardware. I checked with #gp32dev and they concur. But I'm wondering myself, so I'll make a new thread.

I dunno about that!

Squidge: The GPAdvance emulator is now open source, why not get the source from sourceforge and ask efn65 what can be done to help him (modes, sound etc...). Then I would donate you alot of money :D

yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :) :D :D
im lovin it, welcome back squidgy!!!!!!!!

gp32_console is saved

Good to have you back squidge :).

About the flu vs blu. I've just got my BLU through in the post and it's nice :). High build quality and sharp screen.

But if you're happy with your FLU I doubt the difference is worth it. If you can get a good price for your FLU then why not?
