Does Anyone Have The Latest Fgen Beta?

just use a mime decoder.. clever ones can pick any uuencoded text out of a text file or you can do the mail thing that someone described before. Most mail applications have decoders built in.

btw whats "animated" save states ? I have a beta from ryleh which I can save to any one of a bank of 10 and then load... is the "animated" one different ? Also is there a version with zipped states around yet ?

thanks

Why the hell can't the guy just provide fxe's in the first place?
Never mind all this privacy crap too, just put the fecking beta's up for general download cause if anyone really wants them they'll get them anyway.
Why should we have to jump through hoops to get them though?
Well, my take on jumping through hoops is simply that it avoids people who download it and then complain that such and such a game never works and get annoyed and such, which inconceivable as it might seem, does happen. With a mailing list, then if you moan about a game not working, *everyone* sees your moan, so people moan less.

It also means there's a convenient way to (without moaning) report bugs back to the author - in this case, Rlyeh - for the improvement of the emu.

In addition, of course, if they're kept even semi-private, people won't expect something complete, necessarily; just something to test with.

I think its a good idea, about three minutes of searching yielded a number of ways for me to create the .fxes, its not all that difficult.

The fact that you must join a mailing list and the create the .fxes yourself seems to me to be a way to stop the general cretins getting hold of early betas, those people being the one who will post:

SoNiC! Rulez, snd n Animatd sve stts!

And provide very little to the coding process.
I admit maybe i'm not the sought of person who should get hold of betas, but i am testing a number of games i haven't been able to play via giga drive so...

I too agree about the difficulty of getting these things to become .FXEs...

People are going to compile one and spread it around anyways, So why make the general public and fans of your work suffer? :( ?

(P.S I can't use the outlook method, I cleaned that POS offa my PC)

didnt see the second page , im ok now ^^

edit again

how do you use save states , i decoded the text file in the message from retrodev

i got fgenfast and fgensmooth , but i cant see a save option ?
anyhelp ?

sounds like the wrong version

the save states are 2 lines on the options menu (where you can set the cpu speed etc) numbered 0 - 10 iirc, for the save banks, 1 line for save 1 for load.

the m-list post with the smooth and fast fxe's is the version before ryleh added saves i think, unless i missed them

Errmm - he DOES send fxe's.
It's the program you view the mailing list with which doesn't decode it automatically.
If you use a proper eMail-client like Eudora, PegasusMail (even outlook works ;)), you get the fxe (they all decode attachments automatically)

If you view the mailing list archive via an internet browser, you need to decode it yourself, because the browser doesn't do this automatically.
It's a mailing list, not a website, so NO binary files are allowed!

That's how file attachements work since the beginning of the internet ;)

Haha - no you are not 'compiling' the program! You are um, un-mine-encoding the file. LOL

You know when someone sends you an attachment, well you are just clicking on that attachment. Trouble is for some reason you are doing it manually. Get an e-mail program that supports attachments! And stop bitching at Ryleh for christs sake!
