Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at an Elingsh uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoetnt tihng is taht frist and lsat ltteer is at the rghit pclae. The rset can be a toatl mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae we do not raed ervey lteter by itslef but the wrod as a wlohe.

I've seen that in German (my NATIVE language), and found it EASIER to read than the above...
Looks like this phenomena doesn't work as good if it's not your native language.

Yeah, your mind compensates for the misplacement of letters. It's obviously easier when the words are similar to the language you're most familiar with (i.e. your native language) considering how much exposure you've probably had to misspellings of words in that language.

If we couldn't compensate for misspelled words, the internet would crash.

I've seen this in Swedish (my native language). It's interesting!
But I found it equally easy (or difficult, whatever) to read in English. I guess it's just coming down to how well you know the language.

we talked about this in my english class
is weird that you can go over the words so fast and still know what they are

Anidroccg to crad cniyrrag lcitsiugnis planoissefors at an uemannd, utisreviny in Bsitirh Cibmuloa, and crartnoy to the duoibus cmials of the ueticnd rcraeseh, a slpmie, macinahcel ioisrevnn of ianretnl cretcarahs araepps sneiciffut to csufnoe the eadyrevy oekoolnr.

Or: (descrambled)

According to card carrying linguistics professionals at an unnamed, university in British Columbia and contrary to the dubious claims of the uncited research, a simple, mechanical inversion of internal characters appears sufficient to confuse the everyday onlooker.

See it doesnt always work.

Wonder what Japanese would be like :)

I think the method Hando's post uses is to keep many of the words in their original relative positions. I was just waiting for someome to post the retort ... :)

i suspected as much, well fair play to you i couldnt even read proper english when im drunk. I wnoedr if you can raed tihs, tihs is cool, but aolt of wrods cnat be raernaged (sp  )
