i was wondering im am interested in buying the blu and im wondering do you really need the backlight version or does it still work well in poor light and second how much can i get it for in the usa and when

Thanks

I doubt it will ever come state side(US), but u can get it of online in europe and asia

Go here to pre-order a blu or buy a blu once it comes out

and go here to convert any currency if your confused about prices

The back-lit version would be a plus, but if you dont have much cash get a Flu(front lit) or regular gp32(non-lit). most people prefer the front lit version so it counts for the backlit version. The regular gp32 screen is,thank god, brighter thab a regular gba screen.
if you want a flu or a regular one go here
lik-sang
they might have flus and regulars left, but when blu comes out im pretty sure they'll get some as well.

your also gonna want a 128mb smc card to be able to do anything. avaliable on both gbax and lik-sang listed above. Have fun with your Gp32

personally i would buy a blu than immediatly send it to mashmods in canada to have the screen replaced with the glass version. The screen is much clearer if is glass over plastic and blu over flu.

The BLU will be around $250 US Dollars.

But since it will come with a SMC card, a card reader and GPCinema will be free it will be quite a deal. Comparable to getting a FLU and everything separately.

This is so aggrivating.

I have a GP32 and I love the thing dearly but I purchased the regular version (not a FLU) because I simply couldn't seeing forking out so much more money just for a damn light. Virtually every handheld device comes with a back light automatically, so why is the GP32 an exception?

Anyway i'm sick of not being able to see it at night and I want lighting. The BLU would be perfect but the only problem is I already have a friggin GP32 so i'm screwed. This sucks. Maybe i'll try to sell it on Ebay for almost full price and then just order a BLU version and pay the difference.....sigh.....

Um...the gp32 was released a long time ago, before the GBA SP. So, when it was released, it wasn't the only exception. GBA = GP32 NON-FLU & GBA SP = GP32 FLU

BTW, I still don't see how paying an extra 50 bucks for a light isn't worth every penny...

That's an easy thing to say...

$50 isn't that much money for an internal light that'll allow you to play in the dark. There are probably only a few people who say that's too much cash for a light, while the rest would agree that's it's a reasonable price.

Isnt the large price increase for the light though because the light was built in by a third party and not actually part of normal Gamepark manufacturing? (Which also explains the slightly crude on/off switch for the light).

The BLU is the official Gamepark thing for European gp32's? and even though I only really use my GP32 at home, I'll still be buying one when they come available and keep my current FLU as a spare unit.

Yes the screen is MUCH brighter without that crappy plastic blue screen. I made the glass screen myself though, There was no way I was going to send my unit anywhere. I would suggest the same to you here. Just make it, get a piece of glass, a cheapo glass cutter from any hardware store, and cut out a bunch for spares and friends.

The GP32 BLU is $250?! It's just a GP32 with a backlit LCD screen, right? So why is it so much more? I could understand $200, which is what the FLU was a year or so ago, but $250?

OK, I have to say it then - Zodiac1 is $300 and has 32MB RAM, 2 SD card slots, full state-of-the-art multimedia PDA and is PalmOS compatible. It's sturdy, has a sleek metallic casing, an SNES layout, and a backlit 480x320 4" screen. Whether or not you even want a Zodiac or a PDA, my point is that the BLU seems really overpriced in comparison. If it had 32MB RAM and/or a faster CPU than the old GP32 I could understand $250 and I would even consider buying one myself because I still really like some of the GP32 games (I really miss "All For Princess"... I loved that game). But at that price it's not worth it IMO.

I can understand people going for original GP32 and FLU as affordable devices, but the BLU at $250 seems overpriced for what you get IMO.

Maybe it will go down in a few months. I just can't see that many GP32 users upgrading or new users spending $250 for one.

I wouldn't be too worried. The NON-FLU unit is actually better and clearer in lighted areas. The FLU has this ribbed plastic in there and it cuts out some of the light, you also could sometimes see the ribbing. Anyway the FLU washes out the colors and doesn't look that good, plus it sucks batteries fast.

What I would suggest is keep the Non-FLU for use in lighted areas and as a spare as it is better on batteries, and buy a BLU for use in the dark.

Everybody seems to be talking about the FLU "washing out colors" but I haven't noticed anything at all. Have any of the older members noticed any of the colors being washed out by the FLU?
