Hi, the twl4030 has the madc to report some voltages (e.g. battery backup voltage) and the twl63x has a similar thing called gpadc.
What I could not yet find is a working and complete driver for the twl6037, preferrably for iio because that is the future for twl4030.
There is the twl6030-gpadc driver for iio but it is not configured for twl6037 by DT (there are also differences between twl6030 and twl6032 and twl6035/7 is missing).
Here are some references to twl603x/palmas gpadc:
http://lxr.free-electrons.com/source/drivers/mfd/palmas.c#L712 http://lxr.free-electrons.com/source/drivers/iio/adc/twl6030-gpadc.c#L867 http://lxr.free-electrons.com/source/Documentation/devicetree/bindings/mfd/p... http://lxr.free-electrons.com/source/drivers/iio/adc/Kconfig?v=3.14#L186
It is no problem to configure and compile twl6030-gpadc.c but it is not loaded or activated.
What do we need it for in the Pyra? * detection of the USB-ID pin of the OTG port * backup battery and other measurements for bring-up of CPU board * potentiometer position readout if we throw out the pandora compatible DAC+potentiometer+amplifier solution (depends on WiFi module need for board space) and use digital volume control through twl6040
So is there some patch for omap5-uevm floating around with likelihood to get accepted upstream sooner or later? Or do we have to fix it ourselves?
BR, Nikolaus
Hi, anyone found a little time to dig into that or should I ask elsewhere?

twl6030-gpadc looks promising just DT bindings and some platform specific things needs to be added for twl6037 (AFAIK TRM isn't available only under NDA?) Then needs to be written: - battery driver for backup batter (drivers/power - similar we have for gta04) - potentiometer could be integrated probably to drivers/input - not sure about USB-ID pin (needs to be reported to user space or to other kernel module?)
hope this helps.

I have a copy so that is not the problem. But finding out what differs and how to make it interwork is… For example how to load it from the palmas driver (there is some inconsistency between twl6030 and palmas naming).
So it is more work than I would like to spend on it.
The best would be if someone already has done it. Maybe in some recent OMAP5432 TI kernel (with DT support).
Then needs to be written:

Yes, this should be quite similar. Maybe even a new compatible entry could make the driver fit both.
- potentiometer could be integrated probably to drivers/input
Maybe with some udev rule to modify alsa settings.
- not sure about USB-ID pin (needs to be reported to user space or to

Good question I have no answer yet.

ok, thanks for checking!
So could you try to hack something that I can try to test on the 5432EVM (I hope that we get some Pyra-CPU boards by End of August)? I think we must fix DT and palmas main driver interaction for probing/loading.
And another thing: please can you collect all comments on our tty-serial driver and make an updated patch set? I think we should also add a bindings document. Here a draft:
diff --git a/Documentation/devicetree/bindings/serial/slaves.txt b/Documentation/devicetree/bindings/serial/slaves.txt new file mode 100644 index 0000000..353b87f --- /dev/null +++ b/Documentation/devicetree/bindings/serial/slaves.txt @@ -0,0 +1,16 @@ +Device-Tree bindings for UART slave devices + +A node describing a slave device defines a phandle to reference the UART +the device is connected to. We also need to clean up the w2sg0004 bindings a little so that it refers this file.

I have a copy so that is not the problem. But finding out what differs and how to make it interwork is… For example how to load it from the palmas driver (there is some inconsistency between twl6030 and palmas naming).
After quick check twl6030-gpad is not using palmas mfd driver at all (same as for twl4030-madc). It directly read/write over i2c to chip and makes conversions
ah that is good to know. Then we only have to patch the driver to have the correct tables for a new compatible=palmas entry and make the DT load this driver.
So it is more work than I would like to spend on it.
The best would be if someone already has done it. Maybe in some recent OMAP5432 TI kernel (with DT support).
Maybe yes, TI tree should be available or?
Unfortunately I have no overview about TI kernels. So if you could find a little time to do the research?
Sure. I started to clone git tree today and it's till not yet finished (not sure why is this so slow). I hope tomorrow I'll have it cloned and can check what is in TI kernels. Thanks.
Then needs to be written:
- battery driver for backup batter (drivers/power - similar we have for gta04)
Yes, this should be quite similar. Maybe even a new compatible entry could make the driver fit both.
OK.
- potentiometer could be integrated probably to drivers/input
Maybe with some udev rule to modify alsa settings.
Yes input event will be generated (as for rotary encoder) and then it's up the the app to do it's job (change alsa settings)
- not sure about USB-ID pin (needs to be reported to user space or to
other kernel module?)
Good question I have no answer yet.
OK.
hope this helps.
