Looking at the SSD doc, I can see that the above should be supported. (I guess it's the MRX bit in SCM PLL register).
But I also see the application note saying that to use rotation, you need TE, etc. The app note doesn't explain why using the DSI input clock won't work, though.
Maybe SSD can use the DSI input clock, but in that case it cannot use custom hsync/vsync/etc for output. That doesn't make any sense, though, as there should be no diff between using SSD's PLL or DSI clock as ref clock.
Do you have contacts in Solomon Systech? Maybe they could confirm if using DSI clock as ref clock, and configuring the output video timings carefully to match the input timings (but rotated), rotation can be used with video mode.
