GLshim provides OpenGL 1.x functionality to OpenGL ES accelerated cards.
The Pyra's [[GPU]], like nearly all other mobile GPUs, only supports OpenGL-ES, which is a cut-down version of OpenGL. Many third-party games have been written with desktop Linux systems in mind, and rely on the advanced features of OpenGL to run correctly.
 
GLshim acts as a translation-layer, providing OpenGL 1.x functionality to systems which only support OpenGLES.
