The Pyra will ship with a recent Linux Kernel as part of a complete Debian installation. This is likely to be updated regularly (volunteers welcome!). No restriction is placed on installing other kernels or operating systems.
The Pyra is using the Letux Kernel project, currently using version 5.6.y. There is also a list of open Pyra-related issues for this.*
The kernel has the following significant functionality not yet upstream:
- TILER screen rotation
- PowerVR GPU kernel driver
- Nub driver
- ABE/AESS audio
- SD/eMMC mux
