However with all of that being stated, I also have a deep and abiding respect for her. Is that ironic? Perhaps. But I have actually pertained to understand that you can disagree with somebody on something and still appreciate them. Whether you accept it or not, Linda has actually revealed through her exceptional journey of being a blog writer and viewpoint influencer, that she is a motivation to numerous individuals all over the world. She has boot strapped her way to success utilizing a design that was when out of favor and discounted. She's an Outlier, and manages to motivate, prompt and baffle many simultaneously, and with fervour.
I can't think of a lot of people who've run a modelling firm, an occasions company, a magazine and a lot of other services, failed at them, and still kept pushing forward. I likewise don't know of anybody else (a minimum of not on this side of the world), who is lawfully making lots of cash by blogging.
[advertisement] I indicate, before Linda, whoever thought it was possible to purchase a house in Banana Island, and open a string of media-related businesses gotten from the earnings of running a gossip blog? If the United States of America has the "American dream," then Linda Ifeoma Ikeji has the "Naija Dream." Strong, relentless in its pursuit of joy and hope, and eventually, successful. Here's a woman who hit ground absolutely no eventually in her life, and is back to level 100. You need to appreciate such grit and determination, since as my Sapele individuals will say "E nor simple."
Linda or "Lin-Lin" as she's fondly called by those who are close to her turned 36 years of ages a few days ago; and to mark her wedding, she published a 14-minute long video on her blog. Within hours of her posting this video, social media was buzzing with all kinds of remarks and remarks about it - and I knew that I needed to see it for myself. 3 minutes into the video, I wasn't rather sure whether I liked it or not, because it came off as somewhat insincere and scripted; plus Linda looked a little unpleasant facing the electronic camera. However, something altered shortly after - I'm not even sure what. But the veneer of coolness cracked, and something more warm, earthy, real and susceptible spilled out.
[advertisement] And as Linda began to speak about her failures, her desires, her relationship with God, her belief in the validity of her dreams, her utter wonder at how her life turned out, and the that she still "strategies to be around for a long time," something in me likewise paved the way to the hope and inspiration that she was sharing.
And possibly it was an emotional minute, maybe that thing was fleeting, however I acknowledged it, and I felt it strongly. Because it was genuine, powerful and genuine. And in that one special moment, I forgot about all the times I did not like Linda, or all the bothersome things she had done, and because suspended space, between my laptop screen and her video, I celebrated with her. I cheered her on, and I desperately desired her to succeed.
So you can envision my irritation when people took simply a few seconds of that video - of her preferring an amazing man for an other half - and turned it into an occasion for awful banter, senseless rhetoric and upsetting remarks. How do you condense ALL she said, and narrow that down to simply one sector of her video? What is incorrect if she honestly (and very truthfully I might add), spoke about what she desires? Is her desire for a hubby somehow less valid or outrageous since she discussed it outdoors? If she had spoken about additional growing her business or buying another home - would those statements be met with derisive comments? Exists not a quiet strength and dignity in such a guileless show of vulnerability? When people truthfully and truthfully open up themselves, the least we can do, the least we must do as humans is to accord them the respect and dignity that they are worthy of.
