Hi, I have added some OMAP5 support (thanks to Tomi for the DSS and panel upgrades) to the GTA04 kernel we are working on.
And now it boots with the MIPI panel!
Well, it is not yet complete. Missing are (compared to the 3.8 based kernel): * USB support * ethernet driver * as5013 driver * reset impulse for the expansion board * maybe keyboard and LED drivers * backlight control for the panel * /sys node for dcs tests (e.g. switching the panel to test mode)
I have pushed the latest source code to:
http://git.openpandora.org/cgi-bin/gitweb.cgi?p=pyra-kernel.git;a=shortlog;h...
Unfortunately the as5013 driver gives some compiler errors (there have been API changes between 3.8 and 3.14).
@Notaz: maybe you can take a look at it?
Why is this work interesting?
a) it is easier for me to develop and test hardware if I have a single hardware evaluation kernel (one that i know) for all projects b) I am regularily tracking linus/master (which avoids that someone else must reinvent the same hardware adaptations again) c) there is already progress of upstreaming the GTA04 changes - so if upstream accepts things they will become available for Pyra anyways d) 3.14-rc6 is just 1 week old... Maybe 3.14.0 is released this weekend. e) the ARM kernels aim at being exactly the same binaries for all ARM devices - just use different device trees. We have achieved that at least for GTA04 and Pyra!
The compiled binary (w/o the as5013 driver) is here:
http://download.goldelico.com/DragonFly/unstable/
(copy uImage, *.dtb and expand modules.tgz).
One note: to boot this kernel it also needs a modified boot.scr since the new kernel swaps the numbering of the MMC interfaces compared to U-Boot:

So you better test on a fresh SD card.
