I think I have now found some reference to better understand what this "ABE firmware" is:
https://gitorious.org/slimlogic/omap4-android/source/13bfc463d4b2b93783b78ba...
There is one file called
abe_firmware.c
and that one appears to contain some "data" (AKA binary blob).
It is also here (and many other Android kernels):
https://git.ti.com/glsdk/abefw-omap4plus/blobs/eb79849a8c4c50b5f87f592348216...
Now the interesting trick is that this file is licensed under GPL2 and BSD. So it is available under an open source licence. But it contains some binary whose source is not available and no tool to rebuild it or fix bugs.
Nice workaround for the GPL (which IMHO says that any binary must be possible to be recompiled from source), isn't it?
It is similar to rainbow tables or precomputed CRC tables. Unless someone knows how they are build, they are just random bits.
But it might be possible to disassemble it...
