This one almost always works in U-Boot for me but usually hangs in kernel after 3-7 seconds.
I'll try your u-boot at some point.. Meanwhile, can you please check that you're testing the right updated u-boot?
I did load your MLO / uboot.img binary and it did show a compilation date and messages that didn't know...
And Itried your last patch to my repo and it did show an up-to date compile date.
So I am quite sure that it was the right version.
What was happening to me at some point was I had u-boot in the raw eMMC unused area from install.sh, then changed the partitions to boot MLO from vfat, but ended up still booting the old u-boot in the raw eMMC unused area until I reset that data with dd..
Yes, that happened to me as well :) The most confusing thing is if the kernel comes from eMMC and the kernel modules from SD card from a modified build.
But I have empty eMMC on the 4GB device because it was never stable enough to flash something.
