I think we know we have a firmware momentum problem; just not sure we have any means of overcoming it right now .. we need more blood, as I always say ("can't squeeze more juice out of the oranges")
Or is there a bunch of activity thats just not being mentioned here much; ie: I know aTc was working on the OE builds a lot a week or two back.
notaz is always available, seems to always reply when his name comes up, but It hink he's busy in RL or taking a well earned break and working on his other projects.
djw seems pretty busy as ever, holding the continent together :)
I'm derailed with the upcoming twins of course, but have backup with Ivanovic and sebt3 :)
vimacs -- exploiting the .de governemtn takes its time!
..
I think we're relying pretty heavily on aTc, pickle, milkshake, temper, chris_c, wiz stan, etc to do the innovation and carry the flag right now. Tjhats cool, thats what communities are for :)
Course, there is mighty Stuckie doing his Debian port, and the gentoo project (whatever happened of that, used to hear a lot from them), and Arch, and so on. Pretty awesome stuff, and its pretty amazing how far Stuckie came all by himself :)
..
Is there anythign more we can do? Anything we're really not doing thats holding things up? Anythign we shoudl not be doing?
Anything I can do? Anything I shoudl do before I'm really smashed?
Personally -- come August/Sept i'm goign to be tied up wholly for 6 months; I'll still be on the mailing lists and forums and maybe able to do a few things on work time, but I'll be a sleep deprived total mess until March of the next year.. or maybe more :)
So if theres anythign I shoudl do before that happens.. let me know ;)

Yes, and I ran into a bit of trouble there. Have to dig a bit deeper to find out what goes on exactly, but i think something FPU related with the .37 kernel is going wrong. Xorg crashes with an fpu exception thingy when using .37, but the same package runs fine with the .27 kernel, and the same things runs fine on my igep board too (with a .33 kernel though, haven't tried anything later yet)
(and a minor issue with the kernel using a different aufs version than the one the OE recipe for the tool expects)
..
Is there anythign more we can do? Anything we're really not doing thats holding things up? Anythign we shoudl not be doing?
The biggest problem imo is that it's very hard to see what's going on firmware wise. It's all a few individuals messing about with some stuff, but no coordinated effort.

I wonder if we can trouble djw to do any of that, or if he's ultimately too busy.. maybe you can. You've got a pretty good handle on the issues across the recipies that need fixing for instance.
See what I did there? :)

Hi,
well, as you might know, I'm pretty busy right now (buidling units, etc.), but I'll try to do more firmware work.
Can't do much though, as I only handle scripts, I can't code at all :)
As everyone who followed here should know, I'd love to concentrate on charging and stuff like that around for HF6. This includes mainly including WizardStans optimized charger stuff as well as some of Chris' stuff (turn off unit after charging). And I'd like to have a charging screen in case a unit is shutdown while being charged or has been powered on by connecting AC.
I'd need someone who would code some small program that shows the charging status on fullscreen and triggers some scripts when pressing power button, etc.
If someone wants to do it, please let me know.
Regarding firmware: notaz was/is working on the kernel, some stuff is still missing, but if you want to help him, get in contact with him.
DJWillis has some OS working already, not idea how far advanced he is with the next OE tree. aTc, maybe you can try to contact him, if you want to help? You seem to have a working current OE build as well already. Maybe you can join forces?
I had intended to contribute something similar and once a working kernel for the next release was available also contribute my take on enabling alarms and the turn off after charged thing, however...
I've had to return my console too many times and unfortunately felt I had no other option than to ask for a refund.
Despite no longer having a Pandora I will hang round on this list for a little while, on the off chance anyone has any questions about my various hacks or something someone say gives me a bright idea that might help out.
I still think that Pandora is a great machine its just I got repeatedly unlucky with the consoles I received to the point I've lost confidence...
I'm reluctant to be leaving this community not to say disappointed and I wish everyone the very best of luck with what will continue to be an improving platform.
All the best Chris AKA Chris_C

Hi,
oh, that's too bad :( What issues did you have with your Pandora? I usually fix most of that stuff... well, too late now, I guess :(

i have enough knowledge and willpower to help on a lot off thing, but the lack of coordination kinda set me back, since there is no point in working on stuff on my side, if someone else is also working on it on their side...
if there is anything that need some more blood working on it, let me know and ill get down to it ;).
