Khamenei reported dead.
That won't bring a tear from me, but still, killing an 86 old (criminal) man isn't revolution, justice, liberation... It's impatience. They'll put someone else in his place as they would have done, if there wasn't assassination, in 2 or 10 years when he died of old age.
The only problem is choosing whether the next one is his (grand?)son (which seem to have some merits according to them) or that's too monarchic for a islamic revolutionary republic.
Whoever it ends up being (now there's a temporary board/junta/whatever) I doubt it will be any better.
I hope that means that we don't get a stream of "war refugees" running to the "nearest safe country" i.e. Europe/Germany.
I couldn't care less. I have better things to hope.
FWIW sunday someone in Istanbul reporting in tagesschau24 said Iran authorities where stopping Iranians from
crossing the border between Iran and Turkey. Turkish people could get back from Iran to Turkey, but none else,
apparently because the attacks had disturbed some Iranian bureaucracy/data systems in checking papers.
But whatever it was it seems solved, because Monday reuters reported that Iranians and third country national were crossing into Turkey and other places, with some queues at gas stations.
There are also Europeans and travelers from anywhere stuck there without flights or with cruisers sailing in place of their cruise ships.
I hope Middle East citizens are more welcoming with stranded Europeans that Europeans usually are with refugees.

Be careful with what you wish, @kuru, maybe there's a change of regime in the end and some Iranian refuges decide to leave your place
and get back to Iran. If one of those is the doctor who would have otherwise cured you, you might be left to proudly bear your all-so-national disease.
Looks like Cyprus is now involved.
At first I thought Cyprus was in NATO, then I checked and it's not. Then I remembered USA is still in NATO, but I guess being the aggressor it doesn't count.
:(
And there're a lot of wars elsewhere, next door or further away... As if humans didn't have better things to do...

I know that the real problems are bombs, dead, injuries, exile... But does Trump really need to add insult to injury with his cynical comments ?
"Sleepy Joe Biden spent all of his time, and our Country's money, GIVING everything to P.T. Barnum (Zelenskyy!) of Ukraine – Hundreds of Billions of Dollars worth – And, while he gave so much of the super high end away (FREE!), he didn't bother to replace it."
I mean, I'm mostly a pacifist and would be happy if nobody would manufacture or stock any kind of weapon.
But doesn't everyone know that what Zelensky did with just those USA weapons was prolong a war that reduced Russian arsenals (and troops) and had Russia buy weapons from Iran, so that both Russia and Iran have now fewer
weapons than they would have if sleepy Biden hadn't given Zelensky those USA weapons? (with sanctions also helping). Before Putin attacked Ukraine and Biden "wasted" those USA weapons, USA and Israel didn't dare bomb Iran. Now that
some Ukrainians have died using those USA weapons, Israel and USA can attack Iran knowing there'll be fewer USA and Israel soldiers dead that if Biden had kept his weapons in the USA.
Part of those weapons may have been used to destroy part of the Russian arms industry.
If Trump had said it when attacking Venezuela it would be a little less cynical, because I'm not aware of Venezuela sending weapons to Russia (maybe a few troops??? or allowing volunteers to go ? at most?). If he said that while
attacking Greenland, OK, one could disagree but it wouldn't be so cynical, because Putin or Khamenei wouldn't have helped Greenland... But attacking Iran ? The only reason Russian had to withdraw from Syria, and can't help the Ayatollahs, Maduro or anyone is that Biden gave weapons to Zelensky (and Trump sold them to him at Europeans expense).
One can argue whether Biden should have given more or fewer, bigger or smaller weapons to Zelensky, or if it was ethical to throttle those weapons to extend a conflict to bleed Russia and somehow Europe, at the cost of so many lifes, etc.
But criticizing that, just when attacking Iran is so in-your-face...

I received an e-mail from Unity, they're removing stuff from China from their store.
I attached the PDF as the link looks a bit wonky.

Trump is more basic. He states: If you're not strong, you can be pushed around. And he proofs his point himself in multiple ways.

I had a really nice chat on the train with a Pakistani nuclear physicist returning from CERN. He thought the best hope for peace was MAD. He would say that though.

Iran stuff is still going on. For now it appears to slowly simmer out as Iran is sadly blasted into submission while they're telling everyone off.

Azerbaijan was sympathetic to Iran but Iran send a drone to attack them, and apparently planned terrorist attacks, and looks like they are now preparing to attack Iran.
So I guess Azerbaijan could be added to list soon if they really do so.
Kurds in Iraq apparently are also preparing for invading Iran if not done so already.

This week it was also rumored Iran send a missile to Turkey, which could trigger NATO. But nothing like it happened afterwards.

Trump also mentioned that after Iran it would deal with Cuba.

I'm not sure. I think it will drag on. It's like Iran is just trying to force anyone with western air defense munitions to use them up,
so that they end up as weak as Iran, and nobody knows how many drones or missiles and launchers Iran has still left hidden somewhere (do even the Iranians know it?).
And it doesn't look too hard for them to just start and keep mining the Hormuz Strait and or sinking stuff in shallow passes and that would already cause damage...
There's people who say the USA is short on ammunition, budget and political capital, so the slow simmering out may just be a tactic to
make it too expensive for them (or just get Trump bored).
I don't know.

Iran said (yesterday?) it wasn't them, and (in a Dr. Strangelove-ian outburst of sympathy) that if it had been them they'd have sent a much bigger bomb. Thanks for all that love.
And I just heard Iran is apologizing to neighbors and saying they won't fire anymore towards neighbors as long as no attacks come from the neighbor territory (U-turn? uh?)
So I guess Azerbaijan could be added to list soon if they really do so.

I think there are so many groups and factions within each group that false flag attacks, and simply random, non-authorized actions would not be strange.
This week it was also rumored Iran send a missile to Turkey, which could trigger NATO. But nothing like it happened afterwards.
I think Iran also said it was not them. It could even have been Hezbollah, who seems to want to involve Europe, but I think the trajectory wouldn't match.
So I guess it was Iran, looking to spread the area where the West must distribute air defense, so defenses are thinner where they really want to hit.
The Eruopeans kind of say they don't want to get involved (Germany is retiring a few soldiers they had in the area) but Europe seems to send ships and planes
there. So much so that the USA aircraft carrier that was in the Mediterranean is now in the Red Sea (the European vessels covering the same task it had there ?).
Trump also mentioned that after Iran it would deal with Cuba.
And Russia seems to be helping Iran only with intelligence. India and China are not happy, also because of the submarine near Sri Lanka, so they're
going to buy more Russian oil/gas and more expensive. Putin is quite better than he was last week.Ukraine is worse when they had started to regain some territory...
Not only their finances and ammunitions look harder to get, Hungary even confiscated/stole/whatever some Ukranian millions before the April elections.
Pakistan is also showing unrest for some millions Shia who side with the Ayatollahs, but Pakistan signed a mutual defense pact with (already attacked by Iran) Saudi Arabia,
and was already in war with Afghanistan and sometimes with India and even problems in the Iranian border (and Pakistan has nukes). Saudi Arabia promised
not to let its airspace or coast be used against Iran, but now there's an USA carrier in the Red sea...

It's such a can of worms Trump just kicked, that only Nethanyahu and Putin are somewhat happy.

They say information is the first victim of war, and I don't feel well informed, but it looks like everyone is bluffing so that they look able to pay for a longer war than they can.
I'm not even sure how long can Israel endure, which is the party that seems more able and willing to make it long and hard. So let alone the others.
