Okay, moving to 3.16 and keeping an eye on TIs kernel, implementing patches when they're needed.

Is the pyra-kernel on our GIT server the 3.8 one or the 3.16?
If it's 3.8, should we open a new GIT or do you like to push the current 3.16 to the current GIT?

Is there a compiled 3.16 for me somewhere, so I can test and post any issues / nonworking stuff?

Hi,

as we just got more help (thanks to ati) with optimizing drivers and
checking for missing stuff, I think it's time to start working on the
kernel we want to use for the final system.

Nikolaus is the one currently maintaining the kernel, but I think it's
an older one and we should probably switch to the latest one.

Yes, it is a TI variant of the 3.8 kernel because it best supports the
EVM and is easy to extend to hack drivers for hardware bring-up.

We also have a Pyra device tree (and drivers) in the latest 3.16-rc4
for the GTA04 distribution. It boots but is not well tested. More problematic
is that it is incomplete since the mainline 3.16 kernel is lacking some
patches from the 3.8-ti kernel. AFAIR there is no Ethernet and USB.

The result is a little difficult to handle for me - i have checked out
two kernel trees in parallel (eating up many GBytes on my HDD).

And working on one for Pyra and the other one for GTA04 devices.

So I would be most happy if there is only a single kernel for everything
and the boot loaders just differentiate by supplying different device
trees.

Having this is the grand vision behind all this ARM-Device Tree
stuff. A single kernel binary "configured" through different device
trees for the specific device.

The GIT is already there, but we also need some bugtracker and
ToDo-List (probably combined with the GIT system we'll setup for the
OS?)

How do we get started here?

I would suggest to closely coordinate work with the GTA04 kernel (to
the benefit of both projects) and integrate the missing pieces from the
TI kernel.

The benefit is that we already work on upstreaming the GTA04 kernel
so that Pyra patches go upstream as well.
