The non-mmc parts thereof are "obvious" and were simply missing. The relevant kernel subsystems already make use of those aliases (except mcspi broke it with an ugly hack that was probably intended to have the same result).
The mmc part is useless without the patch that enables use of them, and that patch (or an equivalent one) has been attempted and rejected by linux-mmc at least three times.
At some point one just gives up, it's far less effort to just maintain the patch out of tree.
