May be a problem in the keymap. The kernel driver reports the command and dot keys.

2. Sometimes, I encounter heavy flickering of the LCD. Especially
shortly after boot up. This looks like displays backlight power
completely breaks down.

Hm. May be a problem with display cable (connector).

@Nikolaus: Is there a test point where I can measure the power that
arrives at the display board?
