Every time I try to watch a video on this thing there is a problem. either the file won't play at all, it locks up, the batteries get real hot etc. etc. etc.
Here is the latest file I am trying to play (info is from VLC codec details)
stream 0
CODEC:XVID
Language:
Type : Video
Resolution 464x348
Frame Rate: 25.0000000
Stream 1
CODEC: MPGA
Language:
TYPEL Audio
Channels 2
Sample Rate: 44100 hz
BIT RATE: 103kb/s

Is there a better program? I am using the video player incuded in the open2x firmware.

it will tell you how to correctly encode your video files for the gp2x. I am not sure what the open2x video player supports but I am assuming it will be the same codecs and formats as the original player.

the batteries getting hot is a problem of current, if the batteries are worn out and can't keep up with the load then they heat as if they were short circuited

the locks and stuff may be a problem with the container, i'm very used to seeing movie files which are not standar to its format, (that's why some files can be watched with some players and some others not)
or it could be a bug in the player....

Sorry about posting in the news section, it was an accident.
