Hi,

the 32GB card I use runs out of space. Now I ask myselfe when the 64GB Cards might get cheaper.

What do you suppose.

When will SD-Cards get cheaper?
They've been cheap for a long time now. 10 years ago a 2MB card would have cost and arm and a leg.

Yeah, I know.

Maybe I used the wrong words.

Let's say it this way:

How long do you think will it take until a 64 GB card will be cheaper than 50€ (sorry I don't know what it's in £ or $).

Maybe half a year, maybe one year?

It's hard to say. Profit margins on flash-media tend to be very slim unless you can move them in huge numbers. This is why fake-capacity cards are so prevalent - they're VERY profitable, sadly, due at least in part to strong belief in the myth that the prices are always falling.

It's more dependent on the economy, and how it's affecting the foundries - such as whether they're even operating at the moment, or currently closed due to needing to shift inventory, for example.

Komputerbay is selling their relabled 64GB cards for $72, which is about 53€.  I expect you'll see some off-brand cards for less than 50€ soon.

Whether those cheap cards are worth buying is another matter...

I hope I live to see the day 1 terabyte SD cards arrive.

I don't think this will be class 10 Cards and I also don't think this cards will live as long as some more expensive one.

Apparently the SDXC standard theoretically allows for up to 2TB on one card.

Whether this will actually be feasible to release as a commercial product may be another issue entirely, though.

So does the SDHC standard, it's just said in the specification that you aren't allowed to use the higher bits in the size register. This is all because FAT32 is a crappy filesystem and even Microsoft said the performance would be unacceptable on volumes bigger than 40 GB.

As the new UHS-I standard just arrived, prices may drop soon.

I went in two big shops today, and i noticed the SD choice was X4 since i last went here.

I reckon 2TB SDXC cards will be available in 2013.

I don't suppose it'll be that fast.

I think every year we'll get twice of capacity.
Working that out, you get

512GB in 2013

2048GB in 2015

Do you think it'll be faster?

I'm not sure, I would guess at slightly slower, (that post was just being informative for people who didn't want to stretch their arithmatic muscles.)
