Netscape ( windows 3.11 ) > IE ( when i switched 2 98 xp etc ) > opera > firefox > IE > Firefox > IE over all IE is stilll my favourite, i only got rid of it when i had my slower computer which didn't instantly load it which annoyed me ... But on my new computer its pretty instant so its back

I started with Mosaic back in '95, then switched to Netscape, then Mozilla, then Galeon, then Firefox. I've used IE since 3.0 but only for testing stuff.

Yet another.

Firefox is open source, and you have contact with the developers, and your "wishlist" items, actually get considered! Kinda like the GP32 community...its no wonder there are alot of Firefox converts here.

However, it should be noted that Mozilla and Mozilla Firefox use the same engine, Firefox's full name is Mozilla Firefox.

Other: SlimBrowser. Yeah, at it's core, it's IE, but it's better. I always preferred IE to most browsers. Now, I have IE with built-in pop-up blocking and tabbed browsing. And I little nicer interface, but sometimes the window border is a little thick.

Wow... I'm the only person who uses Netscape.

I've never even heard of Firefox... how is it better than Netscape?

Well for one, Netscape is owned and presently developed by AOL. That in itself is enough reason not to use it.

(we all know how AOL loves to do things behind your back)

But as a browser itself, Netscape is like that bloated couch potato that sits all day watching TV, getting fat, and never really being usefull. It takes up space, and is the sloth of browsers.

Firefox, on the otherhand, is designed to be the exact opposite of that. Its sleek, faster, smaller, more secure, and has a better feature set (not 10,000 features you will never use). (its also updated once a week (download the "nightly builds"))

Pheonix/Firebird/Firefox is basically a rewrite of Mozilla, but faster, smaller, better feature set, etc... and is actually going to replace Mozilla once it gets to 1.0

Netscape is what happens when AOL does browsers.

Netscape used to be great...I remember those days....but those days are long gone and now its just "another AOL product".

Netscape, Mozilla, and Mozilla Firefox, all use the same Gecko rendering engine.
