I have ported to Caanoo this simple application, wich was made to test the Wiz touch screen. The program allows to draw in screen with the stylus, on a reference grid. When any button is pressed exits and saves the screen in a image.

The Caanoo screen seems more accurate. The archive includes the executable and the source code.

with sdl is simple how about linux touchscreen? with libTS.
it's also simple (error checking code omitted)

Code:
#define TOUCHSCREENDEVICE "/dev/input/event0"

struct tsdev* touchScreenDevice;

// open the device
touchScreenDevice = ts_open(TOUCHSCREENDEVICE, 1);

// configure it
ts_config(touchScreenDevice);

// read a sample
ts_sample tss;
ts_read(touchScreenDevice , &tss, 1);

// close it when no longer needed
ts_close(touchScreenDevice);
