So I've been researching some styli I thought would nicely compliment the Pandora. Turns out they've been putting scratches on my screen, which is a bummer, but it is what it is, and I'm glad I figured this out before sending any off to my customers.

If you are using a stylus that wasn't included with your Open Pandora, what are you using?

If you are using a screen protector, what kind are you using?

Thanks for the help here!

I use a little wooden stick sometimes, when I can't find my stylus.

well i use the included one and seems it leave some scratches on my screen. as for a protector i always thought that the lcd had a protector build in over, i still haven't had to open it up so didn't know 100%

With the included stylus Ithought there were some scratches at first, too but when I cleaned the screen gently they went away.

Oh, I do, but sometimes I forget to or it falls behind my couch and I am too lazy to get it right away ;)

I use the included Stylus but I softened it's tip by "sanding" it against some fabric (my bed and carpet to be more precise :D ) until it really was smooth and clean on it's surface.

It still leaves some "scratches" on the screen but it's nothing permanent, I can polish it away with some soft polish tissue. :) I recommend to use Lens cleaning cloth regulary on the Pandora, my screen is free from any dust, scratch or fingerprints after.

I've been quite surprised, because no matter how rough I am with the screen, it never seems to scratch, at least not with the included stylus. I've had some times where I thought, "oh, I finally got scratches", but nope, just smudges; a quick wipe down and they're gone. Stands in stark contrast with the DS, which gets covered in scratches the instant you use it.

I smoothed out my stylus, though, because when I got it it felt like it would demolish the screen. Maybe that's why I don't get scratches.

I didn't notice any issues with the Tomee stylus I was using until I started playing Angry Birds. I played through a bunch of PewPew2 using the stylus for navigation with no issues.

Has anyone found any compounds or methods that you can remove scratches with? This is sketchy territory I'm sure.

I use the original stylus if im being lazy, but i won a mario phone stylus from one of those 20p things in a The Entertainer.

For the screen protector, I got one for a garmin sat nav and trimmed about 2mm off one edge and it works a treat :)

I don't quite have my Pandora yet, but I imagine I'll always use the included stylus or my thumb nail.

I've already prepared the screen protector to use though, an Archos 605 Invisible Shield. It is already exactly the size of the Pandora's screen so I won't have to cut it.

What if someone added a small rubber ball on the end to prevent this scratching and stuff.. the ball would have to be tiny and would have to fit into the Slot for it to work I suppose

I use a DS stylus that somebody lost. Just throw it in the soft case with my Pandora, never use the inbuilt one - I thought the DS stylus (which I found before getting the Pandora) looked like a softer, denser plastic and was a safer bet for regular use. Not a single permanent mark so far. Started using a screen protector only recently, but the best thing about it was how it changed the appearance of the display - scratch protection was just a bonus ;)

Well i'm thinking just having the "pen indent" bit covered with rubber.

Wouldn't something hard and glassy smooth be best? Rubber wouldn't 'glide' and could even grind dirt particles on the screen. Just being made of the 'right' plastic and without a seam on it's tip should be enough.

I have used a extendible DS stylus since I got my Pandora, over 1 1/2 years ago (this particular model after nub death), and I've never used a screen protector, no obvious scratches AFAIK! Granted I don't really use the touchscreen too often though....

Pandora 2 should have a better and bigger Stylus with removable tip so we can change the tips and even use different materials. Like some of the Wacom pens.

As onpon has mentioned, smoothing the tip of the stylus ....

....I recall someone else [though may have been you before too onpon?] mentioning a while back about this.

They found that the official stylus was a bit 'scratchy' at the tip and they had sanded it down a little to make it more smooth.

Perhaps those getting light scratches have these old stylus, if you look real close at the tip you may see a tiny rough bit of plastic sticking out, causing the scratches.

When I used to have an old responsive touch screen on my XDA phone I used to have one of those toy witches fingernails that you get in Christmas crackers, was perfect, and fitted firmly on my fingertip.

Cheap too!

Like these but not realistic looking, just solid colour

AND you can pick your nose with these

Edit: It was Sigma, as per this post: http://boards.openpa...aper#entry18655 .. slightly dif issue as that was regarding it getting jammed in the slot, but that is what I was thinking of.

Might still just be some of these stylus' [styli?] have a rough bit on the top
