Hi, I've been coming across .smc file formats for the GP32 (they're not SNES ROMS) and wondered if anyone knows how I can access them, install them, etc.

    Thanks,

    Mark

a -smc file is a SMC image file right? Just checking.

If so, set up your own SMC, it's not hard.

Commercial games stored as .smc don't work due to the encryption - you need a specific smart media card that they came on to play. I've noticed recently a lot more commercial games for sale over at JoyGP than there used to be. This is the major provider of commercial games.

If the .smc file is other utilities for example, then you need the SMC Dev Manager from GP32Spain to extract the files. Otherwise you can only use it with Geepee32.

Yep, you're certainly spot on with that answer and I know how to setup an SMC, suggest you read the question again, it's not hard.

    FUCK YOU!

if you can't operate geepee32 then clearly you don't have the skills required to do anything more complex than breathe, i bet even that confuses you sometimes.

now piss off and stop wasting our time.

without junping to conclusions... what are the smcs files for? Are they the .smc images for lots of homebrew games or warez?

edit: As in what reason did you download those files for? Not what are smc files.

Yauster, I went to a site originally for some SNES ROMS for my emulator as I wanted to compare my PC emulator against an actual SNES I have. I ended up seeing a link for some GP32 smc files as I'm aware the GP32 can use the extensions.

It was purely out of interest, as I'm compiling a write-up on a GP32 (from a new users point of view) for a retro site, but could only find minimal info in SMC files for the GP32.

I thought I would post a simple request on what these files are and how to uncompress them, but that was obviously too much to ask, based on the responses.

Text has no tone, thus they were treated as such.

    So, there you go really.

    Mark

PS - I have since found out they are game images from using gpdev

SMC files for GP32 Development are Virtual SMC Cartridges, meaning they exist on your computer instead of as a physical card. Due to most websites using these files for GP32 warez, we do not offer support on SMC files found off websites. It's useless to test SNES emulators on GeePee32 anyway, since it runs so much slower then the GP32 that the SNES emulator would seem to run at a crawl. Not to mention GeePee32 doesn't support sound.

I think we've all gotten the flames out of our system for what COULD have been a warez incident. If the original poster has any more questions or comments on this matter, he is free to take it up with me. I am not accusing the original poster of anything by locking this thread, I am mostly locking it as its original purpose is now gone.
