There is a nice roguelike called "Sil" http://www.amirrorclear.net/flowers/game/sil/ that should be trivial to "port".
"Sil is a roguelike set in the First Age of Middle-earth. Sil is a descendent of Angband, but makes many changes. These changes have had several directions: to make the game much more true to the world Tolkien imagined, to increase the tactical depth in combat, to reduce the length of the game."
There is a maemo port which should be ideal - gtk and ncurses. http://repository.maemo.org/extras-devel/pool/fremantle/free/source/s/sil/sil_1.0.2-1.tar.gz
I found the ncurses version (sil -mgcu) does not require full cpu - starting without this option pegs cpu at 100 pct.
