I'm quite fond of Goodmerge+Goodgen...

With a complete romset on the genesis compressed i was wondering whether it's likely i'll be able to use those files and choose the said rom within the compressed archive...

I guess this is more of an emulator compatibility question, thoughts?

Nice to see people again what with the recent down-time.

This is quite important for a few reasons...

something to bare in mind is that a complete SNES romset is 16.5gig

When you archive all releases of a single game into 7z compressed archive, (makes for sifting through games easier too) the complete romset will be below 2gig. And most of us will be getting 8/16/32 gb SDHC's.

Do you really need the complete romset?

None the less, I agree. What I really like doing is playing super mario world hacks on my DS, and surely compression would save me many many megabytes!

Don't you get the same effect compressing each individual rom too?

Well there are lots of releases of a single game, so 1 archive will contain several roms. - albeit the same game.

you're right it is OTT to have every rom, but meh! if we've got the space :p
