Okay, we have a bunch of nice OGG, mp3 and MOD players, even a good SID player and a MID player.

But what about all those retro formats?
If anyone wants to code it, here are some links to sourcecodes :)

NEZplug is a plugin that plays NSF and KSS, GBR, GBS, HES, AY files.
(Okay, NSF is already supported, but GBS (Game Boy Sound) and HES (PC-Engine / TurboGrafX Sound) would be cool

Find the source to the plugin (for WinAmp and Netscape) here:
http://nezplug.sourceforge.net/

And some soundfiles (if you need them for testing) here:
http://www.zophar.net/gbs/
http://www.zophar.net/hes/

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Next, there's the GYM-format (Sega Genesis sound files)

There are some source codes available. Hope these help

The best player out there:
http://www.zophar.net/utilities/download/ymamp20s.zip

A plugin for the foobar2000 player:
http://www.zophar.net/utilities/download/foo_gym_src.zip

And another WinAmp plugin which supports also VGM (Sega Master System / Game Gear) files.
http://www.zophar.net/utilities/download/i...ms(0.1.5.9).zip

Link to sounds:
http://www.zophar.net/gym/

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Next, there's VGM (Sega Master System / GameGear)

Again, there's a WinAmp player where the sourcecode is available.
Find it here:

http://www.smspower.org/music/vgmtools.shtml

And again, some music files:
http://www.zophar.net/vgm/

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Last, there are PSF / miniPSF / PSF2 / miniPSF2 files.
These are actually Playstation / Playstation 2 sound files.

Here is the description of the file format:
http://www.zophar.net/tech/files/psf_format14.txt

And here is the main homepage of the author:
http://www.neillcorlett.com/psf/

The best player (can be found there) is written by Neil Corlett (again, it's a WinAmp Plugin).
There isn't a source code downloadable, but I'm sure it's possible to contact the coder and ask for it

Here are some sound files:

http://www.zophar.net/psf/

And don't forget .spc for Super Nintendo music, but I don't have links for sourcode on that!!

OpenSNES9xGP can play SPC files.

There is already a NSF player released by Kuwanger, and he's still working on it.
There is?
Cool - I didn't know both :)

Gonna try out :)

EDIT: Errmm... I searched various GP32 sites, even google, I didn't find an NSF Player by Kuwanger for the GP32... where is it?

Geeez, I never thought of searching in these forums here, 'cause I read all posts since 2 years... except the developer area. I didn't expect it there without coming to our front newspage ;))

Strangely enough, it cannot be found anywhere else (not even on kuwangers own site ;))

Thanks a bunch!

Yeah I had the opportunity to put it on the front News Page, but because Kuwanger posted it in the developer area, I decided to leave it up to him to ask me to put it up on the front page.
