Hey. :) My natural curiosity has gotten me in trouble sometimes, but I think this time it might have come in handy. Here goes:

Hate those doubled quotations?
Tired of forum screwing your post every time you edit?
You don't use Firefox and can't get the Greasemonkey script?

Well here's another way: (Open a new tab or window if needed)

-Scroll the page all the way up
-Click the "My Controls" link
-Under the Options tab select ">Board settings"
-At the end you will see Posting Settings, there's the option "Type of text editor to use when posting", select "Rich Text Editor" from the drop down menu. Note that it requires IE6, Mozilla or Firefox.
-Click on "Change my Account Options"

Now here's where we try it out. As you can see my post contains lots o' bug-causing code, Please quote me after following every step. After you do try editing your post, full editing only.(I know quick editing doesn't work so don't try it.) I'll edit my post after results start coming in.

Some more to test:

Code tags
(Yeah I know code tags have always worked)

Ok i'll stop here for now. Hope it works :p

The only problem would be that it helps with your posts but doesn't do anything for previously existing ones...

Edit: Ok editing my post didn't screw it.

For hyperlinks, just drop the http:// and you'll be fine :)

I use various Firefox plugins, one turns www links into actual hyperlinks. So I agree that dropping the "http://" works great (for me at least).

Thank's for the hint... :)
Let me make a test with hyperlinks without http:// part
Gp2X Italia - Index ....

Strange ...seems that don't work...

OK, so it works for the rest :) . If all of us start using this editor eventually the board will look tidier, so... how about telling everyone you know in this board! (or place it in your sig for a while).

For the hyperlinks note that I did use the "http//:" part, I just didn't place it as a link.

Status changed to confirmed.

Edit: In other words, if you wanna place links only people with the greasemonkey script will be able to click on them succesfully so it's best to avoid for now. :p

What plugin? I don't use any.

I'm using Linkification. It turns web addresses into links for you. I have it for other sites where someone forgets the http:// part. So www.google.com actually works as a clickable link for me. Very useful.

Found an interesting bug today, even if you use the Rich Text Editor (RTE), you will still be affected by quoting users who have not made the change: All the bugs in their post will affect your post.
Currently I am not aware of how to deal with it, but the only thing that will solve it is if everyone (and yes, I mean everyone) uses the RTE. Of course that would take a while, but eventually...

So... Please help spread it...
;)

Thanks for the PM, I hadn't seen it until now.

Yes, I am going to PM members from now on since "Suggestions" forum is not exactly the most visited. And the view count is kind of low.

Glad to be of help!
;)

Thank you for this. So, this is like some sort of vaccine or something? Another good thing about this is that when the board is eventually fixed, they'll already kinda know where the problem is.

EPIC WORKAROUND MANEUVER
... This editor feels slow. :( It's lagging.
Why does Ubuntu's Firefox suck so hard? All the money I'm not paying them...

Edit: Username, why does your sig say to close this topic? Surely we aren't closing every topic..
