As I mentioned here, it's not finished, I need to fix still many things.

It's not made for small screens (on purpose).

I know that:

- the page is heavy to load

- if you shrink your browser it won't look good

- some people don't like this kind of style

- it does not say EVERYTHING about what's good with the Pandora

So bear this in mind and check this out appropriately:

http://www.openpandorajapan.com/

I thought I would share it with you to hear what you think. :)

PS: yeah, obviously it's in Japanese :)

Can't read a word of it ... well ok, a few words like "play", "create", "open" ... looks great though, I like those single page style sites.

Very nice on the eye

Suggestion .... swap 6th page with 7th page ... so that when it then goes onto 8th page it fits better.

Get what I mean?

The 8th page shows a lower half of Pandora, but the 7th page doesn't show the top half ... whereas the 6th page does, so would naturally flow nicer into the 8th

It looks great, but there are no images of games on there. The text may well mention them (obviously I can't read it for toffee), but a single image of a free/open source/whatever (don't go there!) game can speak volumes. I know you don't want to mention emulated games etc. but there are lots of great homebrew and ported games available legally. Unless of course you are trying to promote the Pandora as a more serious machine...

But I love the clean tidy style :)

So far so good, as most of the content is centre justified why not make the menu on the top centred as well? IMHO this would help with the look and feel of the site.

If the purpose is to generate sales why not also have a version that can also be viewed on smaller screens (phones, tablets, netbooks etc.) as well. By limiting the sites usability to people with large desktop monitors you also limit your reach to potential customers.

Sugoi Ekianjo-san! I liked the fact even my scrollmouse worked, although there is no scrollbar.

I also, like the others, find that you could add more images, otoh, I guess clean webpages go better with japanese properness.

Is it supposed to look like that?

I feel confident in saying, "nope".

Only one image of Pandora on a each page, somethings not right there, JS blocked or something I'd guess

There are images of games. You probably missed the arrows on the right in certain pages :)

This version should work fine on tablets.

As for smartphones and smaller screens you can imagine i will have a apecific mobile version :)

Correct you need JS

So I did. However, they weren't exactly obvious being white on a light grey background. I presume the text would have indicated that this was the gaming section though, so no worries.

[EDIT] One thing though, I was under the impression (from reading EDGE and GAMEStm) that FPS games are not that popular in Japan, yet you show three FPS from the off out of a total of five images (so far). Is this not the case? Are FPS's more popular than the international media portray?

FPS are not very popular in Japan but it depends on the segments. It's definitely more popular for PC gamers than console gamers for example. The other reason why I wanted to put FPS there is because they are some of the best looking games on the Pandora currently, just to give an idea of what the Pandora can do.

If you have other suggestions of good looking, non-emulated games, let me know :)

Sonic Robo Blast 2 might cause trademark trouble?

PewPew2, Super Geometry Dust, Titanion and the like may not look as good in an image as in movement,

so something with textures might be... Homeworld and Valyria Tear.

Barbie Seahorse Adventures for a bit Kitsch. ^^

Maybe Baldur's Gate/GemRB for the hardcore RPG friends?

Are these complex RPGs (BG1+2, Planescape: Torment, Fallout 1+2, Gothic 1+2, etc..), popular in Japan by now?

Many of these do not even seem to have been translated into Japanese.

This would not be popular in Japan. They don't like western RPGs.

Homeworld, maybe.

Valyria Tear, probably not - it does not look very Japanese (I can clearly see the difference) and it might give a negative impression rather than a good one :)

PewPew2, Super Geometry Dust, Titanion
They indeed don't look that good in fixed images :)

Very nicely done!

One thing that might be missing is some moving content so you can see the games being played and applications being used. Although that might take away from the cleanness of the site a bit.

By the way - I'd like to ask you guys here if any of you would agree to write one or two sentences I could use as promotion for the Pandora ?

I would put that in a separate "voice of users" page.

No obligation, but very much appreciated if you could share a very short sentence about the pandora and give me your authorization to use it.

I like the design - much cleaner then that ugly thing craig came up with. Two things that sprung up spontaniously:

  • The android logo is too prominent on the alternate OS page - It creates the impression Android is activly supported
  • Maybe it really is just iprice and me, but the left and right arrows on the software and games pages weren't very "obvious" to me. Maybe it is just the fact that don't fit the navigation style the rest of the site offers (I like that I can use the scroll wheel to switch between pages).

I wanted to put other logos as well but to be very honest with you, Debian and Slackware logos just suck ass and look terrible. I prefer to put a single clean logo than having ugly looking ones mixed up together. :)

You don't have to find an excuse, I think this is very valid feedback. I will definitely rework that page to make the arrows more visible.
