A review of this game played on Pandora. A pretty cool RPG that I'd recommend if you have not come across it yet:

A very nice Article and a realy great Game.

Thx for release this Article ;)

I have this Game here too ;)

Anime Rpgs are ever my Favour Games ;)

Yes, excellent rpg, I have both silver star and IMO the even better Eternal Blue box set..

It was one of my favorite RPGs when it was released for the Sega CD. This makes me want to go back and play again.

A good idea to try the PS1 version this time, so that maybe you can spot the differences with the Sega CD version :)

Do you have good recommendations for other PS1 J-RPGs ? I'm trying to find games I have not played yet (hopefully only good ones!).

Have you tried Lunar: Etermal Blue? Its the sequel to the Silver Star Story. Also, Arc the Lad series (Arc the Lad 2 mostly)

Its goes like this: arc the lad 1 may have some average reviews because it is actually more of an intro to Arc the Lad 2 , So arc 1 is pretty short, maybe 10-15 hours, still a good game and your save is transferrable to arc the lad 2. Now Arc the lad 2 is the real game, its very big but very much like Lunar in that it is very story driven and never really gets slow. Also very character driven with lots of back story etc. The battle system is tactical, reminds me of say Ultima 4,5 or more closely shining in the darkness 2 for genesis where you can move around the battlefield and do back attacks, pin the enemy, spells and weapons have ranges etc. The battles move pretty quick compared to other tactic type games which i am usually not good at. Arc the lad 3 I have not played yet as it just looks like a bunch of fetch quests with no real story..

Arc the Lad 1 and 2 is a little more open ended than Lunar and there are optional bounty hunter quests you can do , extra dungeons etc. All in all if you like jrpgs and like or don't mind a little bit of tacticle in your turn based battles I would highly recommend Arc the lad 1,2.

Also Eternal Blue is probly one of my favorite rpg's of all time, its one of those sequels where you finish the first game and just hunger for more and it just satisfies, and brings back all the old feelings and more... ah the memories.

Yeah, I have the Eternal Blue Box set and Arc the Lad collection as well. Very nice packaging, extras etc. I think I bought each one new for $39.99 which was great even then.

Off topic but hey Ekianjo, I noticed your review of Time Hollow, Fun game! On the last chapter right now...

If you like JRPGs, you have to play Xenogears. It's not perfect, but it is the most epic JRPG I have played, and is a true masterpiece. The story is brilliant and the game mechanics are fun. I only recently played it for the first time and was in awe. Now that I have the Pandora to carry it around with me, I will replay it after I finish my current pile of games.

I am playing the PS1 version of Final Fantasy V right now and really enjoying it. When I finish it, I will be ripping my copy of Chrono Cross so I can play it for the first time. I have heard that it is really good, especially if you liked Chrono Trigger.

My favorite JRPG of all time is probably still Cosmic Fantasy 2 for the TG16CD. The game mechanics and music get old fast but the story is so good that it is worth the effort.

Too bad Lunar Silver Star Story is €149 here on ebay. Wish there was a GoG.com for PS1 games.

Hey Ekianjo, you can maybe make a lot of Money when you sell Rare RPGs like this ;)

Maybe you found here a Market with RPGs directly from Japan for us.

And when you find English/American/German Versions

then would i buy some from you ;)
