hello everybody,

does someone know how to install the korean charset?

i only see squares in firefox, when i'm visiting the website www.naver.com

do i need a ttf font?

i've found this website with fonts:

http://www.wazu.jp/gallery/Fonts_Korean.html

and if i had to choose one, i'd go with the "malgun gothic".

here is another website, mayb useful: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Multilingual_support_(East_Asian)#Other_UNIX_Distributions

when i googled for angstrom korean font, i found this page: http://zaurusian.nmain.net/zbxe/108424

i cant read the stuff, but there is a package list under point '3)'

if someone can read it, i'd be hapy if he tells me what it means.

i hope we can figure out a proper solution, hopefully working system-wide if possible

Try this first...and if it doesn't help, go to my third suggestion.

First:

Go in your Firefox Browser to View --->  Character Encoding --->   Auto-Detect ---> there is a selection for Korean.

Second

Go in your Firefox Browser to View ---> Character Encoding --->  More Encodings ---> East Asian ---> there are several Korean options in there.

Third:

Humm...I know Windows packages this as Asian Language Support.  See if there's a Linux package listed under Asian Language Support...or, alternatively, search for "kanji"  This is what Japanese use...and, generally, if you have Japanese support, you'll have all other Asian language characters, too.

Alternatively...

Look for the file ko.xpi

That is the Firefox Korean Language pack.

You can get this by using the add-on Language Pack Install Helper 2.4

You do know how to get to addon's, right?

Search exactly as above, and install the add-on.

Then...

After you install this add-on...

Press the "Open Helper Panel" button to open the language install helper panel, then choose your language from the list and install it.

ko.xpi, the Korean pack....is in there.

thanks a lot for your help, but unfortunately nothing of your suggestions worked. :/

(i even tried to install japanese support under the addon you mentioned, but that also didn't help)

i guess, that i maybe need to install one of these angstrom packages, that were listed under the last of my links?
