Hello All,

I am a Zaurus user and am considering switching to the Pandora. I use the Zaurus as my Japanese dictionary and I need to know if the Pandora can display Japanese and accept Japanese input (through, for example, SCIM or UIM.) Also, has anyone managed to install a dictionary program such as zbedic?

I ran a search on these forums as well as Google and I found that someone is working on porting a flashcard program to the Pandora and that Japanese fonts can be installed.

Thank you in advance for any information you can provide.

Yes you can read japanese if you install the correct font.

But I heard nothing about using a japanese input method (SCIM) yet.

I am finishing porting a japanese dictionary to the Pandora (tagaini-jisho), it works but I have to do some polish on it before releasing.

Since its linux, pretty much anything is possible!

On my laptop (which has a Canadian Multilingual Standard keyboard layout,) I changed the input language to Japanese, and I typed the words based on the sound and it converted it to Japanese characters... so I guess the Pandora should not be too much different... you'd have to install the Japanese language on tit...
