I've been trying to use the Irrlicht engine, but have been having issues with it and using opengl. Has anyone else seen something like this?

You need the OpenGL ES port.

But judging from the SuperTuxKart porting attempt you'll run into massive performance issues.

Would be good to know what the performance issue is going to be, please let us know when you get far enough along with it that things are running slowly. I wanna see why.

See my minetest pnd for where I've currently used Irrlicht. It seems to not have any real performance issues, though a little slower than my desktop, it runs fine.

Ah, plays fine! Probably will be faster in fullscreen, too .. Nice one! I hope this evolves!
