Hiya

Im planning to create a small OpenPandora Manager* for HaikuOS, and i have i quick question about most important directories that's commonly used by OP users [games / emus / video / mp3 dirs ].
BTW. fresh ideas what to add into OpenPandora Manager also welcome :)

I've made a gui already, will show it soon..

Hmm that's gonna be difficult

I personally had my media in /media/MEDIA/(videos/music/docs) and created symlinks to them in my $HOME.

But that's just the way I choose to do it. I'm sure you'll have as many variations as you have answers to this thread...

yeah .. since people can do, they will :)

You're meaning _user data_ and not things like apps? (ie: apps being in /media/<NAME>/pandora/{menu,apps,desktop,mmenu} for one, and app data (generally) in /media/<NAME>/pandora/appdata/<unique-id/appname>

OK, thanks for answer. So i'll do a directory selecting option instead of hardcoded paths to pandora user directories..

And one little question: Pandora boot drive is detected as a simple USB drive after connecting it to PC USB [without any SD Cards inserted] or its somehow hidden [like in WM Devices]?

You mean the NAND?

It's not accessible via USB. Or at least not in the standard OS... I'm sure it could be hacked in.

Not really. NAND is not supposed to be accessible. The idea really is for users to manage their own data on their own SD cards. Which makes a project like yours, im sorry to say, pretty irrelevant. Even more so as you're coding it for Haiku...

I mean, it's not the most common of Operating Systems and you run the very possible risk of you being the only person that uses it. Because to find a userbase you need not only find somebody who uses Haiku, but somebody who uses Haiku and also feels the need for an app to help them organize their stuff. Where as I'm guessing the average Haiku user will be quite happy managing things from the built-in file manager.

Finding people to test and end-use your software is going to be a big challenge.

Im creating this app mainly for my needs, because i finally switched my real primary os [windows] to haiku-os, so i'll need some app to manage [idea of OP manager is very similar to PSP Manager from linux] my stuff when OP arrives . And if somebody from gp32x.de also use haiku i'll be glad to support OP more on HaikuOS by creating more apps

So if you're only making this for yourself, then it doesn't really matter which directories are useful to anybody else...
