I assume you are all familiar with Rule 34?

So I assume you're familiar with Rule 34. If you're not, it's this; If it exists, there is porn of it. No exceptions.

This means that someone, somewhere, has drawn porn of the OP team. Or even of the Pandora itself.

With a shameful google search, made OK by being alone at home tonight, I have 'found' that there is nothing as of yet regarding OPT and Pandora (the device) all that is there is some dubious fan art of a mediocre film. I feel rather dirty and I think I must now go wash until it hurts....*runs to shower*

You used Incognito Mode, right? And by "mediocre film", do you mean Avatar, by any chance?

Rule 34 b states that if it does not exist, then it must be made. Unfortunately no exceptions. :(

Rule 34... so it had a name. <_<

cameleon: just because Google can't find it doesn't mean it's not there. ;) It could exist in a dark alley somewhere in the shady parts of town, or in a 9-year-old's sketch diary, even if it's poorly-drawn. Somewhere, someday, somehow, there's likely to be OP porn somewhere... and I hope I never find it. :p (no offense to the Team... I just don't think I'd be interested in seeing a bunch of guys' junk... I'll never wipe that image from my brain, no matter how much brain bleach I use, and the mere thought of the Pandora itself would trigger horrible, horrible flashbacks)

Pandora-tan
I really hope such an abomination doesn't exist D:

anyway, there is a great website for rule34 stuff (or so I've been told), but I can't post the link and can't check myself right now.. just google "paheal"

Protoman:

Tans are basically anime girls that have nothing whatsoever to do with the product and then, in the end, get some logos slapped on them. If you're lucky, it will have some sort of accessoire that, in a weird way, connects with the product. Examples? How about Wikipe-Tan (yeah, when I see children working as house maids I immediantly think about wikipedia) or Windows7-Tan (because a boring looking anime girl with clothing that wouldn't seem out of place in 20000 Leagues Under the Sea just screams "Operating System"!)

So yes, they're some sort of weird anthropomorphisation of an inanimate object without even trying to look anything like it (besides the aforementioned logos)

Anime-fans, feel free to add your explanation, I openly admit I never liked those. I'm sorry, it's just that I like anthropomorphism (yes, I will yiff in hell, eventually, thank you very much), but in the real ones the artists try to balance the original look and the human characteristics (I'm not just talking about anthro. animals here. Just remember the candle guy from the beauty and the beast, for a mediocre example) and just drawing a generic girl and then throwing logos at it seems to be such a cheap way out that it makes anthropomorphism in general and the product its supposed to be an anthro off look bad. YMMV, of course.

There's a whole thread. on the gp32x forums.
D:

well, at least its drawn better than 99% of the "Tan"s I've seen yet

The original OS-tans were actually pretty well thought out. They appeared in comics so you need to take not only their appearance but also personalities into context.

95-tan, as the original 32 bit Windows, is an old woman wearing clothes patterned after the default wallpaper, and often goes on about how it was in her day before USB. ME-tan is a clumsy little girl who frequently breaks more than she helps (a joke on the idea that WinME crashes a lot). CE-tan is tiny. 2k-tan dressed in default Win2K colours is much more organized and businesslike than the others. And so on and so forth. There's also a running joke in the series that the size of their breasts are related to how much RAM they need: concept sketches of Vista were pretty much all boob.

And then 4-chan got wind of them and like so many things that fall into 4-chan's sights, it was only a matter of time until it was ruined for everybody.

Hmm. These tans aren't true rule 34 though. Actually, from what Stan said they sound kinda funny/cool if you draw them right.

can we not mention the aforementioned website four-chanel, we dont need those people googling us and going anonymous on our asses, pandora porn is one thing, but the stuff those people are famous for goes way beyond porn

Many paranoid people fear the government. The government fears said website-who's name must not be mentioned.

Anime-fans, feel free to add your explanation,
You don't see women in real life wearing bits of video game consoles, so you have to ask your Internet friends to draw some, then you feel self-pity.

It's the same reason why cars on TV have women sitting on them sometimes, because people like things that are cool and things that are sexy, and if you put them together, and ignore how stupid it is, it's even twice as cool.

Edit: I saw "Gone in 60 Seconds" a while ago, and Angelina Jolie was in it. It is just about the same thing, except live-action, and she wasn't wearing bits of cars. (She should have been) The psychology behind it is the same.

Edit: You're thinking of manga, but my explanation doesn't really have anything to do with that, either.

I don't think it's a paranoia thing more than a potential annoyance, such as them starting to troll here en masse, just for the fun of it. At least that's what my concern is regarding them. :p

I have some things to say regarding the -tans, but I'm at work. I'll edit later (or add a new post if more discussion took place).
