Hey

I just got myself a gp2x, only problem is that I only enjoyed it for like 40min.

I put my sd card into the gp2x -> windows found it for me. It dint create the folders on the drive
but still I just formated the H:\ and created the folders manualy. ( ebook, music, movie ... )

I moved a song into the music folder and I was able to play it on my gp2x.
Until...

I was just looking at the menus. (not entering any system config or anything like that)
and listning at a song. When the batteri power whent dead.. ( I had just used some batteries from my
calculator to get things going). I was not connected to the pc tru the usb connector at the time.

I found some nice new batteries, plugged them in and now all the data on the sd card is gone.
Well what do I care I said to myself, its just two songs. And then I plugged the usb cable in.

Windows is able to reqognice the drive, but I get that its not formated.
* "This disk in drive H is not formatted. \nFormat: YES | NO "*.

I click yes, and select Quick Format, and FAT32. (tried with FAT also) ( and without quick format)
*I have checked that the miniSD converter is put on unlock"

And click format. Then instatly get this message:
"Windows was unable to complete the format."

If I put the sd card in my camera afterwards I cant use it (it says that its corrupted. )
So I format it while it is in my camera and it works fine. ( I can format tru the camera or format tru windows without a problem. ). I do this and format the camera, I then create the required folders and put some music into the music folder. ( .mp3 ).

I put the sd card back into the gp2x and when I start ( firmvare v.4.0 ). I get into the gp2x fine
but the files is missing and when I then connec the gp2x to the pc the windows via usb I get the message that * "This disk in drive H is not formatted. \nFormat: YES | NO "*.

If I put the card back into the camera from the gp2x without connect it to a computer the sd card seems fine.
So I figure its a problem with the usb part of gp2x or something?

Im really all out of ideas now so some help would be nice, and I would rather not just send it back the the shop.

edit: tried it with a new sd card, same result there.

Basically, to use the GP2x as a SD-card reader is not a good idea. You'd better use a basic, non battery-powered SD-card reader.

What is your SD card capacity ? I remember having these kinds of troubles, but it was with an old-fashionned card reader which supported 512 Mb max.

As far as I know the F100 supports SD-cards up to 2 Gb.
The F200 is supposed to support SDHC cards up to 16 Gb, but I can't say anything more.
